I like the core idea of Keep on the Shadowfell, Hunyock, but it was never meant to be a 4E adventure. I wonder if it was left over from Mike's OGL spambot days?
Sorry about that, guys. I really do not know what happened. I uploaded the post and that worked because that's how I got the link. But now it has reverted to a draft post and my Third World internet connection won't let me upload it.
And I have only just discovered this as we have been without electricity for the past three days. Thanks, corruption!
Edit: And it's back.

Bookmarked for future reference.
Had our first session this past Sunday. Only 3 player so far. Still waiting to get a couple more before I begin the campaign. So far I have a Human Paladin (Neverwinter Noble), Tiefling Warlock (Devil's Pawn), and Half-elf Rogue (Dead Rat Deserter). I read Gates of Neverdeath and Lost Crown of Neverwinter as well. Did not like them. Neverdeath is a railroad plain and simple and Lost Crown feels like an disconnected series of encounters. So, I plan on using them as a "what has gone before." Once I have a full group set up, I will use them as a convenient background story tying all the characters backgrounds together.
I need to get a copy of Keep on Shadowfell, and I am still pouring through the Neverwinter book. So far I think I can replace the Orcs below the world in Night Below with the Many Arrows orcs that have taken up residence in the city. Hoping to somehow tie Keep on the Shadowfell with the Shard of Night...but won't know how that will work until I actually get a copy of H1. I am pretty sure I will have Thayan Slavers be responsible for the kidnappings mentioned in the Evils of Haranshire book...I haven't decided how aware the Thayans are of just how their victims are being used by the Aboleths.
I have Scepter Tower of the Spellgaurd and Lost Mines of Phandelver as well, but have not gotten a chance to read them yet. Hopefully there are things I an glean from them, as well.

Awesome post! Thanks!
Out of curiosity - how many blog posts on sandboxing the starter set will you do? I'm collecting them in a document to print, so just want to know when to do just that.
Lots of great stuff on that blog. I will be stealing stuff ;-)
In short, two more long posts and possibly a whole new Neverwinter Campaign Setting Sandbox series....![]()
Ooooo....![]()
I like your group. I could definitely have fun with them in my game!BTW, my current crew in 4E includes a Neverwinter Noble (a human thaneborn barbarian) and a Dead Rat Deserter (half-elf valorous bard who keeps showing how awesome bards can be in 4E).
Gates of Neverdeath is great for the cover art - you can find it online - and that's about it. Lost Crown is not a very good adventure for a campaign but I simply love the episode where the PCs get flushed and also fight kraken tentacles. I think there were a couple of other ideas in there which I have also stolen.
If you can, grab the DDi adventure Shards of Selûne which I used with tremendous success as the framework for levels 3-8 of my current game.
Keep on the Shadowfell is still legally available for free from the WotC website. As for Sceptre Tower, it will probably work much better in 5E and I think it would make a great location in the River District which is also known as the Tower District because of certain towers that exist there. Hmmm, I might even use Sceptre Tower that way in my next game....
Thanks for the kind words again. I was really happy with the Leilon post and I think I might be making much more use of the ruins of Leilon in my own game than I was previously intending.
Looking at the table of contents in post 0, I have only two more posts to make: Neverwinter Wood and Neverwinter itself. I've got a rough outline of Neverwinter Wood already but it will take a little bit of time to compile all the references and whatnot as I am also including the Dread Ring, Xinlenal, and Sharandar which appear on the regional map included with the Neverwinter Campaign Setting.
As for Neverwinter, I think I covered a fair bit of it in an earlier series of posts - I will check - but I may actually start a new series focussing on Neverwinter inspired by Ruins of Adventure and my need to prepare some fresh ideas for a new group who will be starting in Neverwinter this year. (I've already sketched out the opening adventure outline and I am really happy with it.)

Thanks for the kind words. It's good to know others are getting some value from it. A lot of it is just the stuff I didn't get to use in my own game - I seriously over-prepare!- but at least this way it's not wasted.

Wow! Shards of Selune will be perfect for my game! While googling it, I ran across the D&D insider page, and joined. So I will be raiding it for all it is worth over the next couple weeks. Can't find Keep on the Shadowfell though. Do you have a link?
Edit: Nevermind..found Shadowfell!
Ahhh, good, because I cannot find it!Here's the link to the FR conversion, though: http://archive.wizards.com/DnD/Article.aspx?x=dnd/dufe/20080606a
Now that you have a DDi subscription, I should mention two other Neverwinter adventures - Gauntlgrym Gambit and That Which Never Sleeps. The latter has a plaguechanged aboleth but it would be too difficult to make that a normal aboleth and tie it in to a Night Below-like storyline.
You may also be able to extract some ideas from the three LFR adventures for Neverwinter which can be found here: http://livingforgottenrealms.com/ (just search for "hound's baying" and you will find all three together).
Glad you like Shards: it has inspired the overwhelming bulk of this campaign!![]()
