[Starter Class] The Batman

TheLe

First Post
I have just uploaded [Starter Class] The Batman to the downloads area.

And now for something completely different... a 10-level starter class based on the BATMAN superhero character. Great for fun (less serious games), or to get your kids interested.

Excerpt:
The Batman is a fictional character in the DC Comics universe. This 10-level starter class is fun class made for kids and adults alike.

You can find the file here in the downloads section. Please use this thread for comments.

No idea -- it's possible it was removed, and it's possible I messed up on the initial upload. It's there now in the file section. If it disappears again, I assume the admins did it.

The class is pretty funny, but there's no reason for this Batman to make unarmed attacks, unless he takes the Tavern Brawler feat. Perhaps he can construct a Batsuit, that gives him advantages if he doesn't attack with weapons(save for, of course, his Bat Items.).

Just a thought.

Ooh ooh ooh ooh! And I just had an idea for two Archetypes: The Dark Knight, which focuses more on being a brutal crime-fighting vigilante. And The Detective, which focuses more on the cerebral, mystery-solving side. Both sides can do either, but one side can do one thing much, much better than the other.

I thought about a "bat suit", but I thought it would kind of silly if adventurers dressed up like a Bat. Not to mention, the classic Batman doesn't have a high tech suit (like the movie version does) -- it's literally just spandex. From a game mechanic standpoint, not sure if a custom suit would matter.

I first focused on the Utility Belt for this start class, which I felt would translate very nicely to D&D. As a matter of fact, there's no reason you couldn't create more custom Bat-Items for the utility belt.

I was also trying to figure out how to make a tricked out wagon for The Batman (aka a Batmobile), but every-time I tried it just sounded real hokey. Maybe he can get a free mount instead...?

Who on earth would bring this class to their DM, browbeat, fast talk or even just beg that DM to allow the class into their game, pick this class and actually play it for ten levels, if they didn't want to dress up like a Bat? I mean, that's kinda the point, ha ha.

Also, throughout comics, writers kind of waffled between armor and just spandex. If they had known that wearing modern armor doesn't actually make you invincible, they probably would have given the suit a bit more weight.

Also, there's the fun of customizing your Batsuit the way you can customize your utility belt and 'Bat Items'. Can it glide? Does it help with your other skills? Can it do this and that? I think people would love it.

LOL. Well, it was aimed more for kids, but I do see your point. I suppose you can make something like this:
