Think this way, you and your bros order a pizza, and one guy hates mushroom, and another hates green peppers but you all like peperoni then you order a large all cheese half peperoni pizza... you don't take a vote and say "Sorry dave and jon, we ordered a mushrrom green peper and cheese pizza" because just because you like something doesn't out weigh us not wanting it...

Speaking as someone who still doesn't have a strong preference as to whether the game includes a warlord or not...

The individual table is the pizza. The published game is the buffet. It's fine to leave peppers out of the pizza. It's less fine to demand the restaurant not include them at the buffet.

I am going to try to actually contribute here... I am being serious (as much as I hate 4e in general) let me try to explain...

I don't want to play make believe in a world that allows things I think are stupid... I bet you don't either. SO when one of us says "That's stupid" we need to stomp it out of the world. I don't care that 259 people say "I want the warlord" because it is completely out weighted even if only 5% of that number say 13ish say they don't (and lemon curry is beating I want a warlord) then that means there are people who don't want there game trashed...

does that make sense?

first thank you for making a reasnoble and non edition warring response...

I do have to disagree though, I am the picky pizza topping guy in the group I'm in... I like meat and cheese, that's it (and only some meat at that) but if we order a half mushroom and half peporoni that;s fine by me... or what we do most saterday nights... 1 weird clam casino pizza, one cheese pizza, and one bacon, peporni, meatball, and sausage pizza...

the idea of the mushroom pizza being in the house, or in my case that weird casino one doesn't stop me from enjoying my cheese or meat pizza

No. Because that isn't the case.

WotC already gave use a large all cheese half pepperoni pizza. 3 of them.
It's the PHB, MM, and DMG.

The issue is what WotC's 4th, 5th, or 6th pizza should be.

Essentially the argument is which pizza should be the mushroom and green pepper one?
Some say 4th.
Same say 5th.
Some say 10th.
A few say none.
And a few say the 2nd pie should have been.

No need, you already have. You do not need to contribute to 5e, which is meant to be inclusive, even to fans of 4e.

Play 5e exactly the way you want to, with everything from 4e scrubbed away. You can do that, it's your game too, nothing about the game stops you from doing so. Neither would the addition of the Warlord.

Go in peace.

you all make the same mistake, you assume that I have one and only one group that 100% agrees with me... and I bet that is a rare thing in RPGs today.

The problem is that when 5 or 6 of us sit down we all agree to play D&D... now if they publish a warlord I can't force others not to play it, and if I don't want mushroom on my pizza, then if someone else throws it on at an adventure league game... I'm stuck with it, or not eat...

Second Wind is a bonus action, not a free action like paladin smiting.
I guess I can stop being annoyed about it being a free action, then. ;) You are font of encouraging rule corrections, you know that? I was so put out when I skimmed the last Sage Advice and when I mentioned it in passing, you pointed out what I'd misread. Between that and finding kindred world-designer, I'm really starting to appreciate having you around, even though we seriously disagree on certain things.

Edit: actually, I recall why I was confused about Second Wind: because I was never quite happy with either bonus or free action. A free action, to my mind, lost the sense that the character was holding back for a moment to steel himself. While the Bonus action made the feature less useful to styles or builds that tended to use the bonus action every round, like TWFing.

gee, how inclusive of you...

There are lots of compramises...

I didn't want HD or second wind, both made it into the game

I didn't want nerfed buff spells that wouldn't stack or the concentration mechanic in general, it made it in

I didn't want damage on a miss, and hey that one we got mostly rid of...

don't act like it isn't all about comprmise, and the thing is Warlord is a step too far.

That's an adventure league problem, not a warlord problem. The League rules determines things.

If you as the group choose the veggie special for 1/2 half and it has no substitutions, you as a group are stuck with peppers. The problem isn't the peppers, it's that you choose the special.

If you don't choose the veggie special. you can just not eat the mushroom and peppers pie.

but if enough people don't want mushrooms, they are fully in there right to ask the pizza shop owner and baker "Hey can you make a special with no mushrooms" or in this case "Hey can you make an edition with no warlords"

Thanks, Tony! That's the nicest compliment I've gotten all week. That's exactly the reaction I most hope for when I nitpick--that the other person will appreciate the information.
