D&D 5E Highest Possible 5E AC

it doesn't cost the signature spell it works in light armour just not medium or heavy.

Of course it does. If you take 1 level of fighter, you don't get wizard level 20 ability. If you take defense fighting style, no twf. And without magic armor (not mage armor) your AC is 19.

Level 1 fighter does not really pay out too well, because a level 1 spell that last for the whole day is as good as light armor + 1 from fighting style.

I know that its better then nonmagical light armour the reason I did the dip and armor instead of spell is to compare to the other builds listed using +3 armour

If you may have higher than normal stats I would go for barbarian 1/bladesinger 19. AC 10+5+5+5+2(shield)+5 shield signatute spell. And warcaster to easily cast spells while holding a one handed weapon. You get there with 7 theoretical ASIs so you only have to start with 18/18/16 which is possible if you roll.
If I had to use standard array I would just make bladesinger 20 and take shield as signature spell and haste as signature. 20 dex 20 int 14 con along with resilent con.
AC 13 mage armor +5 dex +5 int + 2 haste +5 shield spell. That is AC 30 without any trouble.

Edit: shields are not allowed. So -2 AC but no need for warcaster.

You're confusing signature spell (20th level ability which lets you, essentially, turn a daily spell into an "encounter" (short rest) spell )with spell mastery (gained at level 18, which turns a 1st or 2nd level spell into an at-will ability ).

No. I am not. Why do you think so? If you are not lvl 20 wizard. No signature spells. A nice ability. A high cost just to have one point of AC. You still have spell mastery...
