She looks down at Topsy. "Topsy, are you...you again? Is it safe to let you go, so I can go help Turvy?"

"Well, that's a relief," Erevan says while staying close to Topsy, trying to make her feel a bit better by being there and talking with her to keep her occupied.

"How long have you had this.. affliction? Have you heard about lycanthropy before, or are you two figuring this stuff out as you go along? Also, why rats?"

Ezraen watches quietly, trying to take it all in. "Topsy, Turvy, let me know if you feel the change coming on. I will be looking for a way, a way to heal you both of this affliction, but I need your help."

Surana nods back at Topsy and carefully lets go of her as Erevan moves closer to talk to her. She walks over to Turvy and gives him a bit (1 hp's worth) of the paste.

Turvy does not move even after you give him the paste. He just lies there staring at nothing. His eyes retain the rat-like characteristic even as his body is healed of it's worst wounds. Topsy's eyes slowly return to normal.

Topsy confesses that they have been struggling against their curse since they left Blingdenstone. They know that most of those who are so cursed are slowly driven mad by it and eventually lose themselves completely and become monsters. The gnome settlement has been dealing with an infestation off and on for quite some time and anyone suspected of being afflicted is either killed or driven off. Something new is happening there in addition to the wererat problems..."earth spirits have been becoming crazed and attacking the deep gnomes."

They were driven off after being attacked and bitten by a giant rat. Over the last couple of weeks they both knew they were cursed and have struggled to contain it. But it is growing ever stronger and won't be able to resist for long. Topsy tells you that all she wants to do is sleep but in her sleep there are only nightmares of a ravenous beast. She must continually flee from the beast or be devoured...as she becomes more and more exhausted, she just wants to let it consume her so she can finally rest. "I am so tired....so tired..."

Still Turvy just lies there and stares...

Ezraen knows that once they give in, removing the curse becomes much much more difficult. Make a religion check [MENTION=6801331]DMAesh[/MENTION].

Just enough...

You've heard tales of divine magic being used to delay the onset of lycanthropy.

OOC:

If you cast protection from evil on them at the beginning of a long rest, they will have advantage on the save that I will be making for them to avoid succumbing to the next stage of the curse. I make one save per day for them.

Remove curse removes the curse if it is cast before the final, but once they hit the last stage it will take something much more powerful.

You don't know the specifics of the stages but you think Turvy is further along than Topsy. However the two are so bonded that if Turvy goes, it will probably have consequences for Topsy as well.

Also...almost forgot! This is "Alice in Wonderland" inspired and all the BEST people are MAD...so...

As your pulse begins to calm down and you begin to reflect on what just happened, your vision fades momentarily and images of writhing tentacles reaching for your face appear. Cackling laughter fills your ears and you briefly feel the as if rats or insects or other vermin are crawling on you.
