All I want to know is why would you use spells that cost thousands of consumable components when you can just wait a day and casts it using Wish.

1) You don't have a day. You need to cast another spell and you need it NOW!

2) You don't have 9th level spell slots yet.

3) You do have a 9th level spell slot but you will only ever have 1 per long rest. Do you want to always spend it on a spell of 8th level or lower?

4) One of the biggest gripes I have seen about 5E is " I don't have anything to spend money on" so how poor can you really be?

After you cash wish, you're also subject to damage and debility when casting more spells that day including a chance you can never cast wish again.

Nevermind, just remembered that doesn't apply if you're just duplicating the effect of another spell.

Simulacrum is a great example (when targeting another caster), you could spend 1500gp of ruby dust or alternatively just use wish.
