You ought to try responding to the actual points in my post, instead of just re-stating your position over and over again, and misstating a few of my positions before responding to them.

Your avoidance of actually responding to what I am saying is really telling. It shows that even you understand just how untenable your position is, but that you are too stubborn to admit it.

Question.

Would her simply saying that she's been forbidden to answer the question/riddle be acceptable?

Sure. You can choose not to answer, but you cannot lie. Eloelle knows the answer, though it's incorrect, so saying that she doesn't know would be a lie. However, saying she was forbidden is not a lie as she was really forbidden by her patron. What that does, though, is reveal that she A) knows the answer, and B) that someone has forbidden her to speak it. Those are clues that can be picked up by the party and NPC.

Funny that's pretty much how I feel about your repetitive, simplistic, close-minded non-responses. It's like trying to argue with somebody who not only supports a clearly unqualified politician, but does so for reasons that don't even reflect that politicians stated positions.

How does Eloelle know the answer? She failed her Int check?

Because her patron told it to her, at least according to your narrative it did. That it was wrong just means that the patron lied to her, or was itself mistaken. She doesn't get Schrodinger's answer where show both knows and doesn't know the answer.

I'm beginning to think, though, that she is really getting her answers from her Patrón.

But she failed the roll. Are you allowing narration to alter mechanics?

I'll refer you back to the last 10-15 answers by me. Go actually read some of them instead of ignoring what you are unable to counter-argue.

Yes I'm pretty sure I know what your answer is but I want to simplify it down to a yes/no question. So, are you allowing narration change the mechanics? Yes or no?

Since I've said from the beginning that I the int check mechanics don't matter as far as her answer goes, I don't have to change those. Since I won't let the Zone mechanics change to allow her to lie, it's clear that I'm not allowing your narration to change the Zone of Truth mechanics and your narration doesn't alter the int check at all.
