Classes in My World

Lanliss

Explorer
a list of my homebrew classes and subclasses, as I make them up. I cannot promise much in the way of quality or balance, just my ideas, in a helpful list format. Over time I will be linking my old works here, and making new threads to discuss the creation of new ones. :D

Alchemist
  • My first homebrew class, non-magical Alchemist. Focus will be a set of Base alchemical reactions (Smoke bomb, explosive), and subclasses will get extra reactions, and the ability to add to the base ones. For example, Ghost Hunter will be able to make an explosive that temporarily dispels ghosts, or a gas that hinders undead movement. Another will be a Lycan Hunter subclass, with a little bit of Ranger and the ability to silver weapons. WIP, I will get a thread up for it once I feel it is solid enough.

Barbarian

Bard
  • College of the Muse: Change your Muse, change your character. Flexible and powerful, if you know what you are facing. Pick the wrong skill, and you won't have much going for you though.

Cleric

Druid

Fighter
  • HexBlade Fighter: As a Fighter, you have made a deal with forces similar to a Warlock, requesting increased fighting prowess.

Monk
  • Way of the Unseeing Eye: Toph, Daredevil, and pretty much any other blind badass you can think off, with a little bit of Monk Magic thrown in.
  • Way of the Shifting Scales: Tai-chi Battlemaster. Focus of controlling your enemies and the battlefield through Ki.

Paladin

  • Oath of Power- Warlock style 1/2 caster

Ranger

Rogue

Sorcerer
  • Twisted Soul: Control chaos, Spend sorcery points to change the fundamental mechanics of spells. Fire to ice, poison to thunder, and all sorts of other things.

Warlock
  • Patron:Saint Nicholas, King of Joy. Become an Elf, and not the woodland kind. Build toys, maybe throw around some cold damage.
  • Patron: Krampus, Not your usual grandpa Christmas. Do not become an Elf, instead be a little hellspawn of retribution. Know who has been naughty, and how best to punish them.
  • Patron: Davy Jones, herald of Death on the sea. Undying ferryman of the souls lost at sea, willing to let such people go on in undeath, for a price.
  • Patron: Jack Sparrow. A strange man that can be found wandering the sea in a dinghy, seemingly capable of surviving anything. Believed to be a minor trickster god, though he may just be a very odd person...
  • Gonna change things, make the Pact system the Subclass. Patrons will still be chosen, but will only show up in the Invocations, and the class will get an Invocation at 1st level. All current invocations without prerequisites will get a level 2 prerequisite, and the current Patron features at 1st level will be set with no Level Prerequisite, but will have a Patron requirement.
Warlord

  • Warlord: My home brew version. Monk-like Ki spent to fuel maneuvers.

Wizard
  • Possible overhaul of the spell system for wizards.

Thoughts on what little you see? If my ideas spark anything for you, feel free to steal them, I don't mind. :P

College of the Muse concept sounds interesting. If you've done a subclass, I'd be interested in seeing it (also the others, I love looking at homebrewed material).

I have the basic idea down, though it is still in flux. after some responses to a magic item I tried writing up I decided to go with a choice at level 3, where you get to pick an ability and roll an inspiration die to add to it, for an as yet undetermined amount of time. planned abilities I am still working on include temporarily throwing your muse onto someone else, though they get less out of it than you do, and maybe having more than one muse. It is mostly a young idea, planned for my more roleplay heavy player, so there is little in it on mechanics just yet. I think my thread is still somewhere, and I will be updating it in a little while with a rewrite of the subclass.

Quick update, I added Way of the Shifting Scales monk, and made a tiny change to the Krampus entry, making the Chains spell more clear.

Ha!

Also, are you actually naming the warlock patrons that? Seems like it'll shift your game's tone quite far to the wacky side if a player actually selects one. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's just that there's nothing in the other subclasses like it.

There are still the base patrons (Fiend, archfey, etc.), but there are specific patrons within those, and each specific patron will have some unique things for it's followers.

Aye. it's a neat idea. I just find the flavor a little jarring. Will your players feel the same?

It hasn't come up yet, and they can always go with an unnamed patron. I just thought it was odd that there can be hundreds of thousands of patrons, and they all give the exact same abilities no matter what. It also deepens RP, IMO, since the player can make their own patron, and talk out the specific bonuses they imagine from it.
