I will buy Starfinder but I probably won't play it

I will buy Starfinder out of curiosity, but I probably won't play it.

We abandoned Pathfinder because there were so many problems with it, and unless Starfinder solves these problems, I won't want to start a Starfinder campaign.

I'll probably buy it and not play it, mainly because my current group doesn't generally go for sci-fi gaming.

I'm looking forward to buying it, mostly so I can throw some support to my FLGS. I might even run it, but at the very least I'll be able to mine it for ideas. It mostly depends on whether they fixed the gun rules, compared to the idiotic version that Pathfinder uses.

The core Pathfinder book was a decent game, and it didn't really get out of line until it was buried under supplements. At the very least, this new core book makes all supplements unassumed.

That seems like a waste of money, and counter to the concept of capitalism. If you don't like a product and you're unlikely to like the same or a very similar ruleset trimmed with new fluff, then buying it just tells Paizo that they made the right product.

I mean, I get buying something because you want to play it but can't get a group, or maybe started a group...but buying something you're never going to use and don't like the system of just leaves me scratching my head.

Well, if it doesn't solve your PF problems you can donate your book to me.

I am really looking forward to Starfinder. Worst comes to worst I will most likely be able to rip something for my Spelljammer campaign.

I can't help myself, I collected games, it is a condition I have learned to live with and I am not ashamed of it, nor my possible hording of game books. I also admit, I like looking at the pictures, graphs, and tables that I find inside them, the layouts just send a shiver down my spine. Yes, I will buy and mostly likely not play.

That's a very honest self-evaluation. I rarely buy gaming books I don't plan on using in the near term, but I cannot resist miniatures I am unlikely to paint in the next decade!

*nods head*
Yep, and if you want to support your FLGS or Paizo, it would be much more efficient to just send them the cash. But of course, a pathological need to fulfill, or you actually would use the content for something, then that doesn't apply.

Or just to read it.
