Sure. The problem with net is the ranged category so no twf. And no extra attack because of:
When you use an action, bonus action, or reaction to attack with a net, you can only make one attack, regardless of the number of attacks you can normally make."
If the archetype cancel the disadvantage, it is not enough to use the net efficiently.

Maybe the gladiator can treat nets like melee (light, thrown) weapons.

Have to see how it goes in play, I have vivid memories of the old spiked chain fighter from 3.5 shutting down an entire battle field like he was a wizard.
 

Well, I'm no optimiser or power-gamer, so you're not going to have to worry about me exploiting it. I may be trying to weasel some concessions out of you here, primarily because I don't think that the Thri-Kreen, the Gladiator, OR the Net are particularly "good" (I think they all are a bit weak mechanically) and together, they're probably even "worse" - there's a bunch of places where they clash.

But I'll play one anyway, just because I want to!

Besides, on the other hand, my ridiculously OP (in my mind) ability scores should more than make up for it!

Then, on the other-other hand (look, I'm a thri-kreen already!) this IS Dark Sun, so I'm probably going to die of thirst anyway.

Couple of questions:

Confirm: We are level 1, right?

How are we deciding equipment? (I just gave him a bunch of fluffed weapons and a waterskin)

Anyone know what the weird spear all the thri-kreens have in the pictures are called? (I just statted it a 2 handed reach spear)
 

It's been confirmed as level 1.

Yeah, just say a 'gythka' or however it's spelled is a 'spear' that's made for thri-kreen, but otherwise mechanically identical, I figure. That'd be my suggestion as a player.
