I only was able to play a bladesinger for two sessions before that game folded, but man was it fun while it lasted. Best of luck.

Important gear question:

The reason I snagged the hobgoblin chainmail is because a chaimail suit is a chainmail shirt with too many bits attached. I assumed it would be possible to do this "fix" fairly easy (I'm pretty desperate for more AC and a suit of medium armor is the way to go at the moment). Would this be, in fact, possible? And can it be done quickly?

One of the benefits of chainmail is (as oppsed to anything with plates), it is very nearly one-size-fits-all.

It can be done, and since you saved the blacksmith, Kining Blondebeard, it can be done in a day and since you helped save her life she'll only charge you one gold.

Kidding she will do it for free.
