Well, since I too invoked Tolkien...

Eowyn is an amazing character... But she is a woman because she had to be one, plot wise.

It tells us that Tolkien definitely was no woman-hater. But is it not curious that every character is male except those who *have* to be women?

This is what I fear happens when we include a character characteristic "because it works with the story " as opposed to mundane considerations such as "half of people are women". We end up with every character being as what the author sees as being the norm, which for Tolkien (or me, or the others who thankfully have admitted to the same) are white straight cis men.

To break that habbit needs a contious decision.

I am not sure why people would post roundabout and inference based messages on a role playing forum. Morrus is 100% right with the new policy. This is a place where we parse rules down to comma positions and imagine what the words and subsequent tweets add up to for the "intent" of the rules.

No one here is being fooled by circuitous and indirect arguments, we all get the fact that you are really saying you don't like gays and don't want to deal with it in your game rules. Just say that directly. If you did you would violate the existing rules, and that loophole is just being closed.

The straw man arguments on the article make no sense about when you read the article itself. The headline is there to draw people in to read the article and from before the ancient Greeks editors were doing that. The front page of enworld itself often has provocative headlines. Clicks = ad revenue.

There is nothing in the article that says anything but the simple words spoken. Jeremy says he is gay and it is important to him and others that the products they produce have gay characters in them.

If you stopped to think about it, WoTC is a business owned by Hasbro and more inclusive marketing means more unit sales.

Badly written adventures with poorly written characters can be commented on. Background NPC detail that I doubt almost anyone noticed until the article was published? Really?

Because it’s not our article. I can’t just copy and paste other websites’ articles. But it’s getting plenty of attention in here, which is great!

I do need a better way of sharing external articles. Used to be easy when I had a daily bullet pointed list of links. The current article format doesn’t work for that though.
