D&D 5E Pedantic pet peeves

Sacrosanct

Legend
I’m sorry, but this bothers me every time I see it, and it’s been this way since I can remember: mixing up poisonous and venomous. If they are accurate, a poisonous snake can bite you all day long and you’ll never be poisoned. But D&D always mixes these up.

Like the saying goes, “if it bites you and you die, it’s venomous. If you bite it and you die, it’s poisonous.”

I want to scream every time someone uses "dice" as a singular. "Roll one dice." No!

(I've never seen the rulebooks do this, thankfully, but players do it all the freakin' time.)

A pet peeve of mine used to be when people would spell rogue as rouge but now when I see it I just sit there feeling superior.

"Old English" spoken poorly. "Ye" as in "Ye Olde Pub" is pronounced "the." "Gaol" is pronounced "jail." "Blackguard" isn't "black guard," but "blaggard."

I used to be blissfully ignorant... and now neither are you :P

While I may no longer be blissfully ignorant, I will continue to grate on the ears of those who understand old English. Mainly I like the sound of Ye Olde Pub better than The Olde Pub and Blackguard sounds cooler to me than blaggard.

How are people pronouncing Gaol to make it not sound like jail?

But what if it bites you and it dies?

For me, it's when I see people type "would of" or "could of" instead of "would've" or "could've". The former doesn't even make sense!
