How many elves are too many elves?

Does that mean your campaign has no elves, few elves, or more elves than stars in the sky?

Then you get subraces of Free Elf, like the Buy One Get One Free Elf, the Clearance Sale Elf...

As to the OP: I'd greatly prefer just one elf, with no mechanical racial differences. I could be willing to expand into different cultures of elves, but it'd be more like "this group lived around trees for the last thousand years while this other group lived on the coast for the last thousand years so their upbringing is different" or "these two towns blame each other for over-fishing the lake between them and don't like each other". That really doesn't have to translate into one getting a Charisma bonus and the other getting a Wisdom bonus.

Mechanical differentiation of sub-races is unnecessary. An elf is an elf, and while a wood elf may be distinct from a high elf, they are both still just elves.

Now this, this right here, is why ENworld needs a "love" reaction/button.

The overabundance of elves is only a result of the developers not wanting to create racist "human subraces" based on various IRL human cultures and races. Which is probably for the best.
