Fighting Styles A Missed Opportunity

Guerilla Warfare: If making a weapon attack when hidden roll damage dice twice and use the best result. Missed attacks do cause the character to lose hidden status.

Ok I read this one and it made me laugh. I thought of a scenario that just starts the giggles:

- a fighter lurks around the corner with a raised great sword. A hobgoblin walks by and fails to detect the fighter. The fighter brings the sword down in a mighty stroke and......misses. The hobgoblin doesn't notice.

Amusing yes, but as per rules once there is nothing to hide said fighter he is no longer hidden.

So it seems I may need to beef up some of the not always on styles, but by how much is the question?

A new one popped into mind that is a bit non conventional.

Warrior Philosopher: +2 Initiative and Gain 1 Int based skill or 1 language.

So lets say the fighter was hiding behind a barrel as the hobgoblin walked by and attacked with a spear thrust. The fighter remains behind the barrel but he just stuck out a big obvious spear and missed with it. Is the fighter still hidden?

If you're looking for them to balanced with Protection, then I'd think you need to have the ones that can reliably used nearly every round grant advantage, disadvantage, or a +/-5 modifier.

More than that if it's something as unreliable as Guerrilla Warfare. How often can that get used? Maybe once per combat? An extra d8 (longsword or longbow) damage doesn't seem nearly good enough at all.

I thought this thread was going to be a new fighting style that gave you a boost against enemies that miss you with opportunity attacks. Very disappointed.

There is potential in that idea, but the gain would have to big in that OA happen pretty rarely. What are your suggestions?

Maybe 1/round when an OA misses you an ally can us a reaction to attack the enemy. Or maybe +1AC for each OA that misses you in a round.
