Hiya guys, this is my first post up on here. Used the forum a lot and finally got around to getting a user account haha.

Anyways, im going to be in a one-shot and were all starting at lvl 10. I have a few ideas as for which class i should pick but i'm open to suggestion. Basically, i want to make the most effective character i can, since there's been a warning that this one shot will be high intensity and very difficult.

There are no real restraints on what i can build, apart from it has to be officially released material. So feats and multiclassing are a yes.

Any thoughts and suggestions would be very appreciated. Thanks for everyone here for helping with rules and ideas, this forum seems lovely. =D

Depends on what kind of character you want to play. Melee? Spellcaster? Ranged? Some kind of mix?

There's a lot of options.

That is super true. And I have been trying out all sorts of classes since I started so I'm open to any. I have been thinking of a valour bard taking swift quiver at lvl 10. But can't help but think there must be some multi class mix that I'm missing that's going to be much more effective.

In my campaign, the two classes that absolutely pack the most punch are the druid and the sorcerer. I created the sorcerer (since my 14 year old daughter plays her), and it's pretty freaking ridiculous. She went all in on fire based spells, and with things like empower spell, she delivers a TON of damage.

The druid, with circle of the moon, is a master of shapechange. Bear form is brutal, but the druid also took Polymorph other, and turned the ranger in the group into a giant ape, which dealt ridiculous amounts of damage. Shapechange also gives a massive self-healing benefit, and is really quite powerful.

Third runner up in our group is a Paladin/warlock (interesting combination for sure), who uses warlock abilities to augment his fighting abilities. With a high AC, and Smite Evil, he can really chew through evil villains quite effectively.

Life Cleric level 1, Lore Bard 9. With spell secrets you can take Aura of Life for 70-170 healing when group needs it and then Spirit Guardians or Booming Blade for offense depending on group. Armor, Guidance, Bless, and then rest of Bard spell suite can make your versatile enough to cover what is needed.

War caster would be good as a feat, they take whatever is needed most.

Hello again!

I was on a bouncy bus so I wrote a pretty terse message, but now that I'm on my PC it's easier to write a lot. SO:

1: Welcome to the forum, I hope you have a great time!

2: This particular sub-forum is for actual games, this particular thread probably would have belonged here more: http://www.enworld.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?64-Talking-the-Talk ... but no harm done. Just letting you know for the next time

3: I have a 10th level sorcerer designed, a Sea Sorcerer ( see https://media.wizards.com/2017/dnd/downloads/26_UASorcererUA020617s.pdf ) - designed around being around the sea and being a survivor - very slippery fellow. Probably not what you are looking for though. (but send me a private message if you are)

The college of sword bard is better than the valor bard at being a "fighting bard". And if you multi class into hexblade it's very effective - at least on paper. I've yet to try it.

P.S. both of these subclasses are from Xanathar's guide. The hexblade is a warlock subclass (a patron)

heya guys, sorry ive been away haha. Its been wonderful to see the suggestions for the character, its really nice that theres even been a response at all! =O

The hexblade seems a very intersting pick, warlock really lends itself to being multiclassed huh. I also like the lore bard and cleric but i play a lore bard right now so i think i should try something different. =)

Im going to role the character tonight, so ill post what i come up with and thanks all for the inpiration!
