EB's Adventuring in the Days of Yore - Tyranny of Dragons - IC

OOC: I was hoping the hole would be lined up with the door more but I suppose those posts are well-nailed. :)

Which direction are the kobolds walking? clockwise or counterclockwise?

OOC: But there's no rear exit to the church, right?

"They don't look too nasty," Tina says, perhaps with a little sarcasm. "But to the townsfolk, I'm sure they are very frightening. What do you guys think? Once they disappear around the corner, we get Filmark inside and he gets into the church as soon as he can. Once the hole is big enough, we sneak in and hide there against the church until the kobolds walk their critter past us and we jump them. We finish them off as fast as we can and then we get the villagers to get out of here as fast as we can. Hopefully before someone notices the patrol has been disrupted. Someone keep a lookout so that if they manage to circle the church before we have enough boards removed, we can put the boards in back in place as they walk by. Also, we probably want lookout at the end of the fence." She points to the left edge of the fence where it is closest to the keep and to the group of brigands outside the church walls.

OOC: Since you were in town a few months before Tina knows there is a rear exit into the gardens. It is currently were the kobolds and cultist are standing guard. Hard to see the door or the kobolds with the smoky haze about.

Rumdum says, "I'm injured, but I might be able to support with my sling and I can hide pretty well if need be. I'd be the perfect lookout, unless you prefer the caster to stay out of the way. I'd rather us avoid combat, but we need to take this group out, as they are too much of a threat to civilians."

OOC: Just to make sure we are on the same page (in the same book, lol) There are three groups of bad guys.
1) 40-50 cultist at the front making a battering ram.
2) small group 6-8 guarding the back door.
3) Large group 12-14 with a drake patrolling the building

OOC: we were not even close to the same page

Thought the "group in back" and the patrolling group were the same group.
Thought the patrol was just a couple kobolds with a lizard. Not a squad of lizards with their handlers.
Knew nothing about a group guarding the door.

Evaluating this situation, we need a diversion or just give up since the 5-6 of us are totally outgunned here. But I have no idea how we're going to make a distraction that won't get the distractors killed.

If I knew that I would not have started removing boards at all.

"How many of us have viable ranged attacks? Could we take out those guards quickly and quietly? Any of you mage types got sleep spells or something like that?" Tina asks.

"I could put those creatures to sleep," Xull'vian offers. "I will be of little help afterwards so I will wait here where it is safe."

"Let's time that so the patrol is just disappearing around the corner as you cast your spell," Tina suggests. "Who else can take out any that don't fall asleep? We'll then send a group in to get the civilians while I continue to open up a hole in the fence so they can get out easier. What we still need is a distraction for the main group of brigands because once they see the whole in the fence I suspect they'll figure out we're headed for the keep."
