D&D 5E Any good sandbox modules published since 5E?

I'm running Princes of the Apocalypse, and although it's not initially clear from the presentation, it's a big sandbox that matches the OP description very well, once you add in the 'sidequest' stuff from chapter 6. It reminds me of Lost City of Barakus, which I believe has been re-released for 5e.

Nope.

Another suggestion is taking all all 5e and Next releases set on the Sword Coast by WotC and make it into a giant sandbox. So use the locations and encounters from Ghosts of DragonSpear Castle, Dreams of the Red Wizards, Phandalin, Dragon of Icespire Peak plus the hardcovers (PotA, SKT etc.). and see where the adventure goes.

Also, Eric Boyd recently released his Under Illefarn Anew - which is a major expansion of the old 1e adventure Under Illefarn - on the Candlekeep.com forums. There's a lot to build a sandbox from, especially if combined with the adventures mentioned above.

BTW does Storm King's Thunder make for a good sandbox campaign?

Shame if Barakus hasn't been 5e-ified yet, would not be hard to do a home conversion though.

I'm planning to combine Lost Mine of Phandelver, Dragon of Icespire peak, Palace of the Silver Princess and probably my 4e Neverwinter guide to make a Phandelver-centric sandbox. Also looking at adding Dead in Thay and maybe some of the giants adventures etc at the high end of TFTYP. I think the Sword Coast setting as a whole may be too big for a workable sandbox, it's likely to feel more like a bunch of point crawls. Something the scale of the PoTA Dessarin Valley or the Neverwinter region in LMOP at ca 4 miles/hex seems to be ideal.

Good points. D&D Beyond (and probably DM's Guild) will release some further adventures set in the Neverwinter area to foolow up on Dragon of Icespire Peak. https://www.dndbeyond.com/essentials/continue-the-adventure

The whole North might be a tad too big fo ra sandbox, as you said yourself about the Sword Coast. But imo SKT feels very sandboxy. I plan to use it myself as the base for a semi-sandbox adventure, where I can throw in some of the other adventures that I'd like to run. So will drop a lot of hooks and hints, and see where the players go.

I'm pretty sure Barakus is on Frog God's to do list.
