In a game where you get a DEX save (AKA a dodge) to avoid a lightning bolt it seems odd to split hairs over being able to dodge a musket ball versus an arrow.
Which is why spells are about as fast as blaster bolts from Star Wars in my campaign as I mentioned in the other thread.

It's not a real lightning bolt, it's a magic one.

People also hit a small thrown object traveling around 100 mph with a stick as well. You also don't want to stand still in the open during a fire fight.
The arrows are often half again faster so I imagine its a bit tougher than even the base ball.

Offensively one guy who demonstrates himself doing a one man barrage rate of arrow fire (damn accurate too) with a light bow and snap shot techniques also demonstrates extraordinary moving while firing ... I do not think moving while doing stuff is always a huge issue if you are trained for doing that. His shots are themselves probably closer to that 100mp but coming in at a ridiculous numbers no ready setting yourself to defend allowed when in 1.8 seconds you might reasonably be seeing or not seeing 3 snap shot arrows or 1 full draw at 120mph/150mp in 1.6 seconds.

Of course all that said about how difficult it probably is to me these are fantastic legendary characters we are playing not the schlub down the block who plays at Hema. nor even the 56 year old Samurai doing precision stunts.

So yeah dex vs ranged weapons really low on MY immersion breaking scale (even if it does insanely make light armor virtually as badass as plate)

It’s all a matter of do you want wuxia and how much wuxia you want.
We haven't really hit Wuxia in this thread by a long shot I suppose my mention of Hiawatha legendary character firing 12 arrows before the first hit could be Wuxia-like.

Wuxia might be ninja not getting wet because they dodge between the raindrops.

Its realistically possible to doge all 3. Why? Because the prijectile itself isnt what you are realistically basing your doge on. What you are actually reflexingly reacting to is the associated movement moments prior.

Musket=finger twitch
Arrow=same
Lightning bolt=same

You don't have to sell me on it, I don't have a problem with it. Then again I see 20th level characters as being able to do Herculean tasks because I like my Fantasy setting games to be....fantastic.

Lightning bolts are easy to dodge. I mean, you can totally see the guy raise his hand and shout “lightning bolt!” Before he even throws it.
Plus, he doesn’t even throw it very far...
