Do Force Ghosts hang out with each other?

The thing I don’t get is why Anakin not only got to be a Force ghost, when he never did Qui-Gonn’s training, but also got to revert to his younger self in the process!

The first bit aside, Lucas never should have replaced old Anakin with young Anakin in that scene. I get why he did it but I still don’t think it was a good idea.

It seems pretty straightforward, in principle. Anakin had reverted to the good man he was before he fell and became Vader.

Of course, the issue with that is that the prequels did a crappy job in terms of portraying Anakin as having ever been a good man, rather than a whiny and obsessive manchild.

Well, the old Anakin in that scene never existed. He was in there because Lucas didn't know what Anakin looked like until he cast him for WotC. It doesn't make sense keeping him there.

Sure he existed, that was the guy in the Vader suit, unless you mean he was so messed up that he came back how he remembered himself because older burn free Anakin never existed.

What I meant was he never remembered himself looking like that, because he never looked like that. He looked like Hayden Christenson, then he looked looked like the old egg-head version, but he never actually looked like a normal middle-aged man.

(Which, of course, is why Lucas replaced the image in RotJ for Christenson; that's the only memory Anakin could have of what he looks like).

I agree that the normal looking middle-aged man wasn't Vader at any point. Most likely, the image of "Young Anakin" that replaced him was not how Anakin remembered himself being, but how he was at the time of his "death", if you agree with Obi-Wan's theory that Anakin died the moment Vader overtook, as in "the Sith spirit possessed him and he died at this time" (which would explain how he quickly goes from "slightly rebellious and heavily misguided Jedi Knight" into "mass child-killer").

The middle-aged man that appeared before the re-edition must have been a random Jedi Master who just hung out with Obi-Wan at the moment "hey, my friend's son is about to kill Sidious and turn Vader... Care to go with me?" "Oh, well... that's that or just standing around in the Great Netherworld of the Force? I'll go!" (This explanation might be a little less canon than the one in the previous paragraph).

Another thought: In Ep IV, Obi-Wan tells Vader that by striking him down, he’ll become more powerful than Vader can imagine.

Clearly this is not the case, given that Anakin is able to imagine becoming a Force ghost as well.
