Awesome! Congratulations on finishing such a project. 8D

What I never understood is why do gaming tables always have the center of the table lower than the border. What is the reason for this?

So if you have to pause a gaming session and still have mini's and figures all over the battlemat you don't have to take pictures and pick it all up. You just put the table top over the mini's and voila! It's right how you left it.

Yep. Pretty much this. Also, it's not in this one, but the next one in putting an led strip around the inside edge, so there is ambient lighting on the battle area if wanted.

Fantastic! What are the dimensions?

It's 4 ft wide by 6ft long. Standard battlemap in the center. The plexiglass too is two pieces, so it can be used when you're done using one side that you've drawn on, you can pick up the other, slide the used one over, and the DM will have a fresh side next to them to draw a new map

A suggestion on the next one, put the power outlets on the underside, that way they are not visible when the table top is on. I couldn't see where the table gets it's power from, but if not already, I'd run it down the inside of one leg to hide it as much as you can.

Nice work and thanks for sharing. Making a similar table (but with a built in computer) is on my list of things to do one day.
