D&D 5E Where is the content?

Reviewed, published by known companies with a proven track record, written by industry professionals (instead of fans uploading PDFs of unknown quality).
I get all of that except "reviewed." Do you mean someone writes a review of the adventure on a blog or something?

Sorry if I sound obtuse--I'm just curious! :)

Yes, basically. In depth reviews by trusted reviewers. I used to go to rpg.net or here on ENWorld for this kind of content. And sometimes there would be long messageboard posts about actual play experiences. Most of these have dried up. What I'm left with now are blurbs and 5-point ratings by people who bought and reviewed them on Drivethrurpg or DMsGuild. Who knows - maybe they're friends of the writers? But in any case there's not enough meat to the review to know what the play is actually like.

Back to bemoaning the lack of content.

If anything I think the release schedule, such as it is, is slanted too heavily toward adventures. Now we're happy if WoTC publishes an actual D&D setting once every couple years.

Remember when real support meant more than just one setting book before moving on? Even 4e had two for each setting, as unpopular as that move was at the time.

I miss gazetteers.

Gotcha.

It seems like the "DMs Guild Adepts" group might be a step toward what you're looking for, and a lot of their stuff is even available in physical copy. I realize it's probably not exactly what you want, but maybe a step in the right direction, at least?

Dear God that pace is withering.

My home campaign group is lvl 6 (almost 7) and a year and a half in!

Agreed.
My current Thur night campaign started April of 2019, meets pretty much weekly 6pm - 10pm, and the characters are just now 5th lv.

Do you mind giving us a run down of an average session? I ask completely without predjudice, I am just curious cause it's so different to my experience! Thanks in advance!

I think you are going to find that the average game runs much slower than what you are accustomed to. Over the years on here I have learned my group plays at "breakneck" speed compared to most.

We play four hours a week and average between 8 and 10 encounters per session. It take us about fifteen months or so to go from 1st to 20th. That's with maybe a half dozen skipped sessions per year.

I am doing homebrew for my current campaign and I totally understand why you want to stick to published stuff.

I'm right there with you about the lack of high level material.

I'm not @ccs , but I run at an even slower pace than they do. However, we do not use XP, so the pace of leveling is controlled differently.
