I remember the first character I made with HeroForge back in the day. I had backed their Kickstarter and got a free custom mini for doing so, but I had put off using it because HeroForge was so much more expensive than the other options. I wanted to save it for Something Special.

But it was impossible to find a dwarf mini that fit my character. And it wasn't even a complicated character! It was just a dwarf who was armed with a spear, that's all...not an axe, not a hammer, just a spear.

No matter how hard I looked, dwarf minis always had either an axe or hammer. Always. (Well, okay, almost always. Once I found one with a blunderbuss.) I could find dwarves armed with flagons of ale more easily than I could find dwarves armed with one of the oldest weapons in history. So I used HeroForge to customize my character, and now I can't stop. I'm addicted.

Back to the OP of this thread: I'd like to see non-stereotypical equipment. Dwarves that aren't armed with the same old axe or hammer. Wizards that aren't carrying the same old staff or book. That sort of thing.

Of course, what self-respecting dwarf would use such a primitive weapon? :D

I had the same problem with my current druid character - I wanted an elf with a staff who wasn't wearing wizard robes. No such thing, apparently, so I too went to HeroForge.

Tiny Furniture is finally coming out with miniatures I've been looking for... CORPSES! :D I also enjoy tavern and inn encounters, so they'll double as sleeping or passed out on the floor. TF's KS will be in April. : Tiny Furniture - Harvest of War

Likewise, Hand of Glory is back with their "hot swappable" hands, so that (gasp) your miniature actually depicts what your character is holding!!! No more dwarves holding crossbows or axes when they should be holding a tankard and being drunk as usual. Did I mention tavern and inn encounters? :D : Hand of Glory Modular Magnetic Gaming Miniatures

PIctured here are TF furniture, HoG adventurers (check out what the cleric is holding) and Loke Battlemats map. LB actually has a Town and Tavern KS going on right now... : Towns & Taverns. 2 Modular Books of Battle Mats for Roleplay

We've got a line coming to KS on April 14, and the project lead made it a point to create minis for stuff he hasn't found elsewhere. I can't give too much away but there should be enough deep cuts to satisfy those who are craving some unique minis. Also, there will be scenery available too :)

A full 44 mini set for Spelljammer with a space barge as the unique incentive piece
Love ideas like this. Years ago I ran Rise of the Runelords for Pathfinder. I bought every Reaper miniature intended for use with the campaign and painted them up. I would love to see a company license a WOTC adventure book and release a set of monsters covering every encounter. Kind of a Beadles and Grimm for miniatures painters.

There's more choice than ever before. Between the various Wizkids lines and Reaper Bones stuff you can get the vast majority of mins you may need for a fairly low price. So although coverage is great, I would love to see more minis that match the aesthetics I like. That's mainly:-
  • Female adventurers that wear sensible armour. Dark Sword minis have some amazing sculpts that I use for female PCs. They also have loads of minis sporting chainmail bikinis to be fair.
  • Monsters with an old-school look. I've not found anything as good as Otherworld Miniatures for this. Absolutely love the way a lot of their range looks like they've stepped straight from the pages of the 1e Monster Manual.
