UPDATE -- it's several months later, and playtesting has long since closed. The Awfully Cheerful Engine now has an official website!

The playtest is designed for a single game session. It includes the core rules and a short playtest adventure called Monkey Business (adapted from a 2000 AD case file!)

ACE! is designed to be fast, funny, and fun. The tone we're going for is a Ghostbusters movie or an episode of Dangermouse.

There's a play tester survey to fill out once you've finished your playtest.

Was there anything in particular you wanted people to pay attention to from a playtest standpoint? I'll admit, I didn't read the feedback form yet. 😜

It's pretty short and small -- so nothing specific. And I think I'd rather people play it not knowing what the questions were, so I get their most natural experience.

I like the black on yellow. Made it easier for me to read. (Scotopic sensitivity makes high contrast bad.)

Niggling little items on first skim of 1.1:

1. Blank Card has a formatting issue: style's lines misaligned.
2. Your "averages" are off due to the explosion.
3. it would be nice to have a reminder in the mechanics chapter that it's all d6's. (Many old hands like to skip intro text... me included. I read system mechanics first).

7x3.5=24.5, which you rounded to 25.
The explosion, however, makes the average 3.5+(3.5/6)+(3.5/36)+(3.5/216)... so, for the fractions, using 216's for ease and reasonable fidelity (only 4 terms of an infinite sequence) ((3.5×216)+(3.5×36)+(3.5×6)+(3.5×1))/216= 906.5/216 = 4 42.5/216 = 4 85/432 ≅ 4.2

Your 5d average thus should be ≈21, and 7d should be ≈29.4.
