D&D General Is the D&D cartoon actually more popular in Latin America?

Thinking about various multimedia attempts with D&D, I do remember there was that cartoon series which had at best a tenuous connection to D&D.

But the thing is I've never seen that series until I was on a vacation in Mexico (many years ago when Vicente Fox was president) flipping through channels on the hotel room's TV. I never once saw that series on TV in Canada ever.

Tenuous? The cartoon link was a lot more then a tenuous link. The show was literally called Dungeons and Dragons, and the characters had D&D classes, and the monsters were all D&D monsters. I mean, of course it wasn't a replication of the ttrgp, but it couldn't be since it was a show geared towards kids. Also, it was pretty popular in the US as well when it aired, leading it's time slot for 2 years.

It was quite popular at the time (83-85) but I don't know that it's ever been released for syndication.

There were DVDs released, but I'm not about to shell out $35 so Uni will just have to live on as a nostalgic memory for me.

You can find them easy enough online for streaming. I have the boxed set (that came with a book that statt'd out them as 3.5 edition characters). They hold up about as well as most 80s cartoons.

I am Spanish, and I can say here it was very popular in that age when I was a child.

(Lyrics)
We arrived to a fanstatic world
full of strange beings.
The dungeon master
gave powers to all us.
You the barbarian, you the archer, acrobat, wizard and the knight.
Dragons and dungeons,
an infernal world.
Hiddes in the shadows
the evil forces.

how old are you?

the series was very popular when I was at school, everyone wanted to be either Venger or DM but strangely enough not the kids (although I did use Hanks Bow as a magic item in my games. My cousins also had a one horned goat named Uni)
