WotC WotC is hiring Senior Manager for Diversity, equity and inclusion.

They manage things and processes that are complicated, rather than people - product mangers, program managers, project managers, relationship managers, release managers, and so on.

It was a rhetorical question, I get it. I just find it amusing when someone tells me they're in management and they're not actually managing anyone.

Edit: I mean within the context of applying for a managerial position.

No that wouldn’t be obviously good. In fact, that’s probably the most discriminatory thing I’ve ever heard on this site.
I did not say that should be the reason for their hiring, so don't cut and paste a small part of my whole post. If it's not obvious to you that hiring a BIPOC for this position is not good, I really don't know what to tell you.

Yes, well, folks who don't regularly experience discrimination themselves are usually not terribly skilled at noting it when it happens near them, but not at them.

Consider this a useful qualification for the role at WotC - the ability to notice such things, even when they aren't against their own demographic.

it’s no better than hiring a straight white male for it.

Sorry, but that just seems how the whole country has escalated on things. A few years ago, a black, straight woman could have gotten this job and all but the fringe of the minority and LGBT+ groups would have cheered the hire. But today? It just feels like everyone will only be satisfied if the person is exactly like them. Which is so opposite the idea of inclusivity that we all want to see happen.
Maybe you watch too much sensationalist media, I don't know, but this simply isn't how things actually are.

If wotc hires a straight, cis, Black woman, there will literally be a few whiners on twitter, and that's it.

You know that a few comments on twitter don't represent general public backlash, right?
