D&D General Dwarven Forge New Set

The cost of these sets is getting higher and higher. This is charging $600 for enough trees, rocks, and wilderness features to dress up a 2' by 2' battle map - a little sparesely now, although you can fill it up a bit more with the stretch goals.

I remember the first one that gave us enough pieces to build a reasonable table top dungeon for less than $200.... I am shocked at the prices considering what you can buy on Etsy for less than $100.

Wow, out of my range for this. Wonder how many people will go for this. I'm sure they have a model and loyal followers, but wow.

A Title Much Cooler Than Anything on the Old Site
There are affluent players who want cool table dressing when they play that will happily pay for this. Also the production values of Dwarven Forge make them popular for use in some of the more popular streams. I already have too many physical tiles and terrain pieces that I've never used and COVID has finally pushed me into making the plunge with VTT. I can buy a lot of digital material for that price.

But boy would I enjoy playing in a game of some wealthy DM that has the money to buy Dwarven Forge and the time to prep games with it.

I'm hoping VTTs evolve to the point where this can happen digitally.
What would you specifically like that they aren't doing? There are animated maps, 3D tabletops, music and sound effects, dynamic lighting, fully customizable maps with tiles and features. I don't use half of the options that are already available.

I guess I'm using the wrong VTTs. I'm using roll20, which doesn't have any 3D.

The dynamic lighting is sorta cool, but still has a long way to go.

I love Dwarven Forge. I backed the first three Kickstarters at "reasonable" amounts (few hundred bucks, give or take) and got a LOT of stuff.

However, during the third Kickstarter they realized the real money was in the whales. A small group of people would buy literally everything so they started offering bigger and more complex sets but in turn, started offering fewer low- and mid-range sets.

The average pledge amount per person for the last two was $1000! Three thousand people pledged a grand each. The offerings in this KS for under $400 are a joke.

I was really excited for this KS but the first thing I thought when looking through the pledge levels was "it's time to get a 3D printer."
