The specifics are all rumours, but yeah, looks like Warner's has let many, many people go from all of their companies. I've got a few friends at DC (I mean business-friends, not personal pals) so I hope they're okay. The company has been hell since Didio left - I assume he saw which way the wind was gonna blow.

EVS was saying he sees DC Publishing dropping 40% of their titles.

During his stream, it was suggested any titles with over 40,000 estimated sales are safe.
The rest are being looked at being ended.

Looking at comichron Jan.'20 sales, we get:

So the safe beats to be kept are:
Wonder Woman
Batman
Detective Comics
Justice League
Superman.

Yeah, their perennial sellers.
I wonder if they will either a) license other publishers to publish comics/graphic novels of other characters, b) sell that IP off or c) do nothing. (I'd put good money they go with "a").

I have readen the true bet is the streaming service, HBO Max.

Can you unpack this a bit more? Are you saying that the reason AT&T and Time Warner laid off 600 people at DC Comics was because they plan to do creative work out of HBO Max, and stop publishing paper media?

Oh, I see you are talking about DC Universe, DC's new streaming service. Instead of sinking more money into that venture, they'll just move those titles and create new ones on HBO Max.

Makes sense.

I dont' watch any of the TV shows but I have liked some of DCs output on the alternative side.

I wonder about their back catalog - they have one of the deepest and most "erudite" back catalogs of graphic novels. The entire Vertigo line specifically.
