WOIN Armor, SOAK and Bio-active upgraded weapons

Hi there,
How do I rule bio-active weaponry?

RAW say armor SOAK doesn't apply to poison damage.
So does bio-active weaponry simply ignore armor SOAK?
It seems very cheap for mimicing an once-per-day-carieer-exploit all the time.

That's a good question. It's caused by the poison/SOAK being a later clarification. In this particular case, it makes no sense for SOAK not to apply as the delivery mechanism is a physical dart.

I think the same way; a poisoned sword shouldn't ignore armor.
Thank's a lot :)

IMHO, the bio-active weapon would need to do at least 1-point of normal damage that isn't soaked in order to deliver its venomous payload. Then perhaps it would/could/should (?) require an appropriate attribute check (END?) or the target gets the Poisoned condition. At the 2nd level of the Poisoned condition track, the target starts taking Poison damage every round, and that cannot not be soaked.

I dont think it should be that compex; the weapon has poison as damage type so it will trigger vulnerabilities and causes an additional condition on critical hits.

Additional tests would bloat up fights as it triggers on every hit.

OK, so if I'm interpreting you correctly, then a bio-active sword would cause damage which is simultaneously both slashing and poison, and an initial critical hit with this weapon would cause both the Bleeding and Poisoned conditions at the first step on each track?

So... I think you own an old file/book (v1.11 or older, 1.12 doesn't use those clumsy tracks anymore) , but yes, critical hit condition rules didn't change.
If you score a crit, you inflict one condition for each damage type on your weapon.
There are not that many ways to add / mix damage type, so this rule won't apply that often.

I own 1.2, but I still think of the two steps for each condition as "tracks". And I see now on p. 174 of the NEW 1.2 rulebook that it clearly says "If an attack does multiple damage types (e.g. piercing/poison) then both statuses are inflicted on a critical hit." Missed that before, thanks!
