This is why I went to pdf only. Its just not worth the space and the worry anymore.
I laminate my maps.
I have some games in dead tree because the dead tree is the only legal way to obtain them.
And, based upon a few other posts of yours in the last few days, I've had nowhere near the levels if careless behavior with the hundreds of different players I've GM'd for over the last 39 years than you would seem to have from your 20ish.
Then again, many of my maps are ones I've made, and could just reprint for $0.5 at the UPS store...

Given the popularity of 'dipping' around here, I'm lucky that it hasn't been at my table in over a decade. It was a constant at work.
I've only had two jobs where tobacco use was allowed... US Army, and Mental Health Association. I'm finding Oregon's 10' Smoke/Vape ban inadequate. I miss Alaska's 25'. (Both are radius from any entry or openable window.

No electronics at the table. Need to text or take a call? Step away. Dont know how to use a pencil or just wanna use pirated books on your lappie'? Then this group isn't for you.
That'd sink my game completely, as most of our rules and all our pantheons and spell write-ups are online now. (if for no other reason it's far easier to edit something and not have to reprint it all; and when it's online several people can be simultaneously looking at different things e.g. different Cleric spells that before would have been in a single binder passed around)

Actually, I've been gaming since 1979. My current group has been together for 18.

Ironically, the only spill I ever had was when a soda exploded in a file box full of Harn material as I was lugging it to the game. That was the moment when I said: screw this, paper has got to go.

The city banned smoking and vaping in city buildings or vehicles (the PD had banned smoking in the public view long before), so the smokers generally dipped on duty.

I'm not a sensitive soul (that news might shock you), but tobacco drool in shared areas is not acceptable to me.

I was referring to the number of players you mentioned, not years you've gamed.

I've had things destroyed by sodas... but not RPG stuff. (When you forget that you have a half-rack of soda in the trunk and it's going to be -20°F, and you hear a hiss as you warm up the car.... ruined a repair manual.)
