His point wasn't rubber headed aliens. His point was, what if both the DM and player will have their fun ruined all the way by a specific race being included/excluded. How can there be compromise at that point?
Given that was apparently the point, specifying the "rubber forehead aliens" part was kind of a poor move. I had thought it was relevant since he kept saying it. Twice in that very post, in fact.

If the only point was, "I will only have fun with Not-X and no other possibility, and hypothetical player will only have fun with Definitely-X and no other possibility, what can be done?" then the obvious answer is of course nothing. No solution exists. I don't get why one would even ask. Like how pretty much no one would ask what to do if you need a number that is both greater than seven and less than five.

As I've said repeatedly, there's no point in talking about cases where either side is so absolutely, totally dogmatic that there can be no other possibility than to give them what they want or leave. I'm not advocating for such a situation, as I've explicitly said several times, and people kept saying they weren't either. Was that incorrect? If not, I don't understand why the question is relevant, since it would seem no one is actually talking about such a scenario. And if so, why do people keep saying otherwise?

Cause we like going round and round the rabbit hole!

Also, if you ever write a Dragon People novel, publish it under your user name so I will recognize that it's yours and read it!

He'd probably quit my game when he realized he could play a tiefling but his character wouldn't be hated for being one. Given that I don't want to play the world (as the DM) the way he seems to want it, I'd probably call that a win for both of us.

That's what he wants. He enjoys playing racesthat are hated.

The issue is some DMs run games where all the "monster" and "evil" races are banned. So he would never play with those DMs.

Just like a DM could prefer a theme, a player could as well. It's not irrational or being a snowflake.

It doesn't even have to be that extreme. If a player lost out on even 10% of his fun, I'd want him to leave so that he is able to get 100% somewhere else. I'd feel really bad for him if he played and was only at 90%. The same goes for the DM. It's equally unacceptable for him to be playing at 90% enjoyment.
See, that won't be a problem at my table because at my table players get 110% fun to offset! ;)

@Oofta…Old school dictators that never give their players any freedom are destroying the hobby by brainwashing the younger generation into being fellow fascist dictators that also dictate every move players make.. Will no one think of the children?....

Drum roll. I love brainwashing. That is where you open the brain and use 1 oz of dawn and 1 gallon of water to wash the brain.

I'm gonna wash that DM right outa my head,
I'm gonna wash that DM right outa my head,
I'm gonna wash that DM right outa my head,
And send them on his way.
I'm gonna kick that DM right outa my games,
Younger Gamers:
I'm gonna kick that DM right outa my games,
I'm gonna kick that DM right outa my games,
And send them on his way.
Don't try to patch it up
Tear it up, tear it up!
Wash them out, dry them out,
Push them out, fly them out,
Cancel them and let them go!
Yea, sister!
I'm gonna wash that DM right outa my head,
I'm gonna wash that DM right outa my head,
I'm gonna wash that DM right outa my head,
And send them on his way.
If a DM don't understand you,
If you fly on separate beams,
Waste no time, make a change,
Ride that DM right off your range.
Rub them out of the roll call
And drum them out of your dreams.
Oho! If you laugh at different comics,
If you root for different teams,
Waste no time, weep no more,
Show them what the door is for.
Rub them out of the roll call
And drum them out of your dreams.
You can't light a fire when the woods are wet,
No!
You can't make a butterfly strong,
Hmm, hmm!
You can't fix an egg when it ain't quite good,
And you can't fix a DM when he's wrong!
You can't put back a petal when it falls from a flower,
Or sweeten up a fellow when he starts turnin' sour
Oh no! Oh no!
Younger Gamers:
If his eyes get dull and fishy,
When you look for glints and gleams,
Waste no time,
Make a switch,
Drop them in the nearest ditch!
Rub them out of the roll call,
And drum them out of your dreams
Oho! Oho!
I went to wash that DM right outa my head,
I went to wash that DM right outa my head,
I went to wash that DM right outa my head,
And sent them on his way.
She went to wash that DM right outa my head,
She went to wash that DM right outa my head,
She went to wash that DM right outa my head,
Younger Gamers:
And send them on his way
