D&D 5E WotC to increase releases per year?

What I'd really like would be a big book full of optional rules, that could be used to update settings like Dark Sun and Spelljammer without WotC needing to bring out an official setting of their own.
That is an interesting idea. Not likely to happen, but interesting.

They've printed two MTG settings and done zero modules for them.
You can get support through DMsGuild - that seems to be the extent of what WotC will offer other settings.
A monster compendium of the existing modules would be nice.
I don't think we will see that, but you get that with D&D Beyond right now. And it is a lot more useful (IMO) than a book or PDF.

WotC would be out of business in six months if they listened to me.

If I was in charge, I'd open up every single setting of theirs on DMs Guild, and invite anyone interested to apply to write the "official setting document" in return for zero dollars but maximum bragging rights. After that, anyone complaining that their setting of choice wasn't being supported enough would be told it was their own fault for not publishing their own stuff on the site.

It would be nice to get something new. Movies get redone.... usually bor-ing. Songs... TV shows... perhaps we can get something new instead of redone settings and modules. As much as I love the module redos and seemingly countless subclasses, a new setting or huge book of spells would be better IMHO. Do we really need to redo Ravenloft? I have 2nd and 3rd edition books that never even got toally used since there were so many. Same with DarkSun and Planescape. New please! And stop with the $50+ book prices lol

There's been more new official settings in 5E than anything edition since 2E: Wildemount, Theros, Aquisitions Incorporated, and Ravnica are all new settings.

I always felt like the slow release rate of new books was the best thing ever for D&D...because what they released fell straight in my taste palette!
But for sometimes, I felt like their offer were less to my tastes, meaning that I kinda wish they released more stuff, in the hope that I'll get something I would like to buy.

Strange how that works, eh?!

Tasha's was the first 5e book ever that I regretted purchasing, so I'm kinda on the fence about what's to come.
