I friend of mine thought of the Great Owl from Secret of NIMH when he read the Owlfolk.

The Rabbitfolk remind me of the Easter Bunny from Rise of the Guardians.

My immediate thought was this was shades of hengyoki (spelling?) anthromorphic race of various animals with fey blood. That also had other animals like monkeys and dogs and such. The one consistent difference between them and this is I think those previously published could shapechange in to their specific animal, I think, but I could be remembering wrong.

Jeez they just stick ANYTHING in the Feywild now. :cautious: Next I'll be reading kobolds have a Feywild origin.
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I'm kind of getting tired of all the Feywild stuff from WotC. Someone over there must really like the concept, because it seems to keep coming back, especially in UA.

I am happy that they decided to continue providing proficiencies to lineages if they're appropriate. I still wish they left a way for culture to be expressed mechanically though.

I'd probably say that flight for owlfolk and probably fairies should only be usable in light or no armour, flying around in full plate is a bit hard for me to visualise.

Agree that the hop ability is mechanically a mess. I get what they're trying to do, but d12 feet, every round, in a system where everything is in 5ft intervals? Ick. Maybe make the leap considerably bigger, at cost of making it a bonus action.

I solve the flight issue by using variant encumbrance!

The hop is silly. Just let them take a bonus action to hop a certain distance, say half their normal walking speed that doesn't count as movement, and call it a day.

Since I own Humblewood, here goes. They don't have rabbits, but they do have Jerbeen, which also go boing.

Owlfolk
Size: either Small or Medium
Speed 30 ft., fly 30 ft.
Darkvision 90 ft.
Can cast detect magic as a ritual.
Proficiency in Stealth.

Strig (HW)
Size: Medium
Speed 30 ft. Can't fly but can glide at 60 ft.
Talons for 1d4 slashing, plus advantage on Athletics checks to climb where the can grip.
Darkvision 60 ft.
Proficiency in Stealth only in forests.

Subrace: Stout
Proficiency in Intimidation
Can grapple after hitting with claws

Subrace: Swift
Proficiency in Survival
Speed increases to 35 feet.

Rabbitfolk
Size: Medium or Small
Speed: 30 ft.
Can add prof bonus to Initiative rolls
Proficiency in Perception
Can use reaction to add a d4 to a failed Dex save
Can add 1d12 feet in a hop, which doesn't cost movement.

Jerbeen (HW)
Size: Small
Speed: 30 ft. They also have a 30-foot long jump and 15-foot high jump.
Can move through a Medium creature's space.
Have advantage on Strength saves and saves against being frightened as long as there's an ally within 5 feet that isn't frightened or incapacitated
Can use the Help action as a bonus action.

They're really not at all similar.
How the hell you go through that list and see identical traits like the Jump, Glides and Proficiencies. The Flying system is also ripped from Humblewood. Even if you are lying about not hearing of it, it's without a doubt that the WotC team is aware of the most successful third-party products.

Anti-inclusive content. Don’t post again in this thread please.
Can you not?
Not propose a serious concern?
I posit you this, a Halfling God and a Goliath God fight by fists to the oblivion. Who wins?
Racists like those that are removing ASIs from the game would argue that it's impossible to consider.
I am not a moron and understand basic lever mechanics and know for a fact that equal muscle distribution makes LESS impact on lifting capacity than physical statute. It's why Verne Troyer could never get hacked enough to lift more than The Mountain. You racists just remove what makes people special so you don't feel less than uncompromisingly perfect.

I find it odd that the "Fairy" isn't tiny size, but I think they backed away from that due to all the complications there might be if a PC was tiny.

Another way to balance the flying speed of the Fairy and Owlfolk/Hsiao is to add an altitude limit, I believe the 4e pixie PC race had it. But it was a 1 square altitude limit. The altitude limit can certainly be higher than 5 feet, maybe set at something like 30 or 60 feet, and the character must move downwards if they're above that altitude or fall.
