99 and44/100ths % of the time I'd suggest a homebrew around player interests. But Theros looks like it has a good amount of thought and support put in it to fit it's style, I'd say go for it. Eberron (and Dark Sun) are similar in that aspect, and I would have voted for there was a E:RftLW option. Lots of good additional works from the setting creator on DMSGuild.

Really depends on what you're looking for. Saltmarsh is a nice sandbox to play with, but it does require effort on the DM. Since none of the others are APs, I'm assuming this amount of work is going to be acceptable. Homebrew would be my second choice, assuming you're up for that much preparation.

What kind of game do you prefer? How much time does the DM have available to homebrew stuff? What themes do the players like?

Eberron is a lot of fun if you want to go with a steampunk/magipunk vibe: airships, trains, a postal service, etc. It's a great starting point for an "anything goes" sandbox kind of game. But Eberron isn't everyone's cup of tea, which is probably why it isn't on the poll. :D

But honestly, the most fun I've ever had playing D&D, on either side of the table, has been a homebrew game. So it gets my vote, far and above any of the others.

Of the options in the poll, I'd go with "Rime of the Frostmaiden" - I'm very much looking forward to running that myself. I haven't purchased many of the other options, so can't comment on any of those.

The other thing that is always tempting is something homebrew, but I wouldn't consider anywhere in the Realms for that. But the ability to homebrew depends greatly on the amount of time and effort the DM is able and willing to put in.
