D&D General Are lockpicking tools legal in your fantasy world?

I would simply ask the question, where do you keep your lock picks. Most players will come up with something creative at this point.

dagger/sword hilts are good hiding place.
Unless weapons are also restricted.

underside of vambracers or greaves is also an option.
Or if you have other tool sets, it can be hidden among them.

Most professions keep their tools and practices secret, and this would include locksmiths and thieves. Because of this, the average law enforcer wouldn't recognize them anyway. A large city with an active guild might have laws against them, but even then only veterans would likely be able to recognize them.

Lol. I’ve been playing DayZ recently and apparently another word for lockpick is Splitting Axe.

In our games, we call those "dwarven lockpicks".
