The RAW has gotten away from picayune nitpickery in its language. This edition is not about finagling your way around exactly what it does, or does not, explicitly say. It expects you to use some fragment of common sense in interpreting it, not hyper-literal thinking.
Fully Agree. So why are some latching on to nitpickery language and hyper literal thinking to say that you can't even see out of normal darkness?

So by your logic you can see through a wall created by Wall of Stone spell?
"A nonmagical wall of solid stone springs into existence at a point you choose within range."

I think we all know that stone isn't transparent...

So the wall of stone spell does exactly what it says. It creates a wall of stone...

And Darkness creates a blob of darkness that can't be seen through.

It says it can't be illuminated by nonmagical light, or by some magical light. So, it's darkness, which is heavily obscured, which blocks vision.

Post Errata - Vision is only blocked by Heavily Obscured areas when trying to see something in that area.
