D&D 5E 20th level Wizard vs the World

<DM Hat>
1. simalcrum is an illusionary duplicate of the wizard with half hitpoints and all other abilities. Not a living being that can be possessed. So no magic jar.

2. shapechanging into Dragon or Pitfiend would work but I probably wouldn't let them have granular control of exact age. (if I did your enemies would as well)

3. you are going to just summon and bind lower planer creatures to create an army. Summoning them that way means when they die they actually die. What is your plan when an Arch Devil shows up to collect payment/retribution for you permanently killing his devils. I'd love to see the payment that is worth more than the soul of a wizard that can do this. (and no on the selling soul but staying on the prime material till you die. The payment would have to be so legendary the Archdevil would be shocked you could do it)

5. when you show up with an army of Devils, how do you keep heaven out of it? no way to hide the massive aura of evil that they would emanate. Every good cleric and paladin for a mile would know something bad was coming, and be praying for guidance. If hell's involved, heaven's involved. Just the way it works.
1. Yes, the simulacrum itself is an illusory duplicate, but when you True Poly it into either the pitfiend or dragon, you change it into actually that. When the time's up, it remains that way, permenantly. Then you tell it to shapeshift into a humanoid form, and magic jar the human form. You could do this whenever you need your old body, I guess.

2. Yes, I'm aware that some DMs will shut the age idea down. I talked about that in my plan.

3. If you want, bind lower CR celestials to your service or wish in a conjure celestial. you could also try an elemental or fey. You might even be able to create your own race of cr 9 creatures that are either elementals, fey, or celestials, using the DM guide section on creating monsters of certain CR.

4. Why is there not a four? JK

5. 3 pretty much sums this up. and again, If you're about to die, then just plane shift yourself away.

forgot 6.

Gods are not only effective on one plane they just have to worry about dying on other planes. That doesn't mean they can't send ARMIES of their followers led by SOLARS, DEVA's, demigods, Heroes and the like. Or just cut a deal with the being in charge of the plane to imprison you forever as an integral part of the plane. And that's just being cheesy. If a pantheon of gods really wanted you dead, they'd probably send in thier version of Loki, or Hel to deal with you. But the ways to find you, kill you, or even imprison you once you start hiding in other planes is virtually unlimited.
As for this, You have two seventh level slots, along with an eighth and ninth one. Use one of them, and plane shift again to a place where they can't find you. If you need more help, follow mystra, goddess of magic or another god who is fine with your agenda (or several, for that matter). Mystra is best in my opinion because she is impressed with big displays of magic and commands her followers to protect the strongest mages, and she may even do so herself. Plus, she's neutral, so she would be fine with you trying to take over the world as long as you're nice to her and worship her enough.

Polymorph affects one creature. An illusory duplicate is not a creature. You can't polymorph an illusory copy of your I r self as it's not real hS no soul and can't be polymorphic.

Celestial are an even bigger problem than devils as far as consequences. They won't even deal they'll just kill you. And even 20th level makes don't last of if God's are after them.if mystra is your friend her enemies are your enemies. And whether she favors you or not (unlikely for a greedy power hungry devil summoning mage who would be far too much like Cyric for her taste) she doesn't interfere in mortal affairs. I find it unlikely she'd hide your mage.

And before you try it's an object. Illusions are not objects.

"You shape an illusory duplicate of one beast or Humanoid that is within range for the entire Casting Time of the spell. The duplicate is a creature, partially real and formed from ice or snow, and it can take Actions and otherwise be affected as a normal creature."

I mean you can DM however you want, and limiting simulacrum by not making it a creature to avoid all sorts of ways an already very powerful thing can be further enhanced with magic makes all kinds of sense. But the second sentence of the spell is clearly just there to say that "despite the implications of the 'illusory duplicate' thing this is still a creature for all practical game purposes".

Rule otherwise if it is your want, but beware it cuts both ways, as much hostile magic needs to target creatures. Pushing it to make them also not objects makes the matter more extreme as almost all things that target anything need to target a creature or object. You seem to be reading simulacrums as being something almost completely outside normal game rules, which makes them essentially impervious to normal combat.

Mystra is True Neutral, meaning she does't give a damn what you are using magic for. As long as you aren't trying to Take over the weave for yourself, she's fine with you. Also, she controls the magic of all mortal beings, including clerics and paladins. That would mean that she could prevent them from fighting you by just taking all of their power. And as proof that she doesn't care about your evil agenda, there is a dracolich named daurgothoth. He is under the protection of Mystra, and he is chaotic evil. If you don't like the idea of summoning celestials, then fey and elementals are still options.

A simulcram by the definition of the spell is an "illusory duplicate" of the caster. It's not real. It's an illusion with just enough form to make it seem real. Illusion's by definition are not creatures, or objects.

Id like to note we haven't even addressed that your soul can't return to the body unless it's within 100 ft of you. So if your DM allows it and your Dragon dies, you die.

I'd also rule that if someone dispelled the spell, you walked into an antimagic zone or any place that would cause the spell to be dispelled or non functional that you'd be immediately shunted to your body if it were 100 ft away otherwise you'd die. So those Arch Devils, Gods and or heroes, would easily be able to kill you if your secret were ever discovered. Probably before you even knew they were after you.

Well, that's how YOU would rule it, right? you're one DM. Most DMs would shut all of these ideas down straight away, so idk what to tell you.

Also, I forgot to mention in my last post, If you don't want a Celestial, Elemental, Fey, or Fiend as your buddy, The create magen spell would work fine as well. But you might want to simulacrum them so you keep all of your hp, and you can build an army out of them.

Im just realizing simulacrum-ing the magens to create an army would count as simulacrum cheese, so nvm.
