Jupiter's Legacy (Netflix)

Has anyone else started watching "Jupiter's Legacy" on Netflix? It's a 'gritty' live-action superhero show along the lines of "The Boys", or "Invincible." I'm 4 episodes in at this point and they're running the present day storyline in parallel with the flashbacks to the Depression Era origin story for the original heroes. Pretty good so far and Josh Duhamel does a good job as the titular leader of the super team. I covers the usual questions regarding the responsibilities of those with great power.

I'm halfway through it as well but I think the backstory origin is kind of dragging. There are elements of it that are interesting, but much of it feels like filler.

I have to admit it was a bit of a surprise to see Anna Akana show up in a part. So far her biggest role was as the Stupid Fine Writer Chick in "Ant-Man."

I like Anna's YouTube videos. It's good to see her getting more exposure.

They have super strength and can fly but not invulnerable? I'd think those go together. How do you do that without ripping yourself apart without invulnerability?

I followed her quite a while back, but not recently.

While the supers might not be invulnerable, they aren't exactly push-overs either. Not killed , nor even significantly injured by being thrown through a random brick wall, or having to be pummeled for 2 minutes straight by another super to be significantly injured, for example. Being cut in half by a massive particle beam is on another level.

Solitary Role Playing
Watched the first episode. Very predictable. Acting is good. Dialogue is boring. A superhero colleague is decapitated and no one cries, instead skip to the next scene at the prison, that is rather cold.

Rather flat when compared to Umbrella Academy. Still, I'll watch the next episode in case it gets better.

Just binged it over the weekend. Overall I'm enjoying it.

I think the "coldness" of the (central) characters is very much a part of the plot/character arcs. The original heroes are all about 100 years old. They have lost touch with the world, their emotions, and their connection to others.
