If they did a book for Abeir would that count as revisiting Forgotten Realms?
I so badly want them to do so, and make it basically Perkins’ Iomandra setting. Let the continent that 4e called “returned Abeir” be the biggest landmass by far, with the next biggest being half the size, and then build a setting where there are no gods, dragons rule most of the world, Titans slumber, and you can hop from island to island like they’re planets in Star Wars.

I think it is going to be either FR or Exandria. Regarding Exandria the book is probably slightly a year out at this point, and the 3rd campaign will probably start in September, so about a year before the new book would hit the shelves, so I am not convinced it is too soon. I suspect though it might be FR, because of the reasons others have put forward. I can't see it being Eberron, it has already been revisited after the WotC book, and another revisit is in the works, neither were connected to WotC.
Regarding Eberron, its designers including Baker have been using the DMsGuild to publish further content for it, separately from WotC. So, there is alot available for it. I suspect at some point in the future, WotC might publish an official consolidation of this new material. In the meantime, there is plenty and no urgency.

Ed Greenwood has also been working with several folks on publishing new material for FR on the DMsGuild, so not sure if Eberron is really unique there.

I don't think Exandria is the revisited setting, because that is going to be developed by Mercer (even if it is published by WotC) and the language, IMHO, points to something in-house. My heart would say Greyhawk, since it has been visited in Ghosts of Saltmarsh. But I think it is going to be FR.

Of the options I think revisiting the Realms for a different region setting books seems the most plausible. I think Exandria has a chance at a second book, but not until the third campaign is underway. However,
And no Greyhawk doesn't count, it's got kind of an adventure, but it has no setting book'
I think the fact that Greyhawk got an adventure, but not a setting book is why it might be the setting they "return" to, to give it a setting book.

FR, hands down, no contest.

I'd really like it to be anything else, but like GW and ultramarines, WotC's staked themselves to the ground with FR.
Yeah, it's gonna need some serious crunch to get me interested in a FR book... but I can't imagine it being anything else.
