It's interesting, the origins of this Set as a "Dungeons & Dragons themed Core Set" become more clear as I see more cards. Orb of Drsgonkind, from Dragonlance, Vecna, from Greyhawk. Lots of generic pulls from the PHB, New characters who are as much generic D&D as Forgotten Realms specifically....
Drizz't killed Icingdeath and made a sword from some body part or another, I believe. So this is for a Drizz't deck, specifically.Does the Frost Tyrant in D&D have a connection with a magic ice sword?
For MtG, R & W would be the two biggest colors for equipment, and red would definitely not fit a cold sword.
You mean Icingdeath? Yeah, it was a dragon in a Drizt novel. He killed it and took a frost brand from its hoard, and named the frost brand Icingdeath after the dragon. It’s one of his two iconic scimitars.Does the Frost Tyrant in D&D have a connection with a magic ice sword?

Nah, he just found it in Icingdeath’s hoard after killing him.Drizz't killed Icingdeath and made a sword from some body part or another, I believe.
The Orbs of Dragonkind predate Dragonlance. In fact, the Dragon Orbs from Dragonlance were explicitly a different artifact. I remember reading that somewhere. The Hand and Eye of Vecna pretty universally showed up in pretty much everyone's settings, so I can see them following that trend and bringing them to the Realms. It's interesting, the origins of this Set as a "Dungeons & Dragons themed Core Set" become more clear as I see more cards. Sounds probable, though the 5E DMG writeup links thenitem specifically to Krynn and the Moon Wizards. The Orbs of Dragonkind predate Dragonlance.
