D&D 5E Two New D&D Books Revealed: Feywild & Strixhaven Mage School

Amazon has revealed the next two D&D hardcovers! The Wild Beyond the Witchlight is a feywild adventure due in September, and Curriculum of Chaos is a Magic: the Gathering setting of Strixhaven, which looks like a Harry Potter-esque mage school, set for November.

The Wild Beyond the Witchlight is D&D's next big adventure storyline that brings the wicked whimsy of the Feywild to fifth edition for the first time.

The recent Unearthed Arcana, Folk of the Feywild, contained the fairy, hobgoblin of the Feywild, owlfolk, and rabbitfolk. UA is usually a good preview of what's in upcoming D&D books.

Curriculum of Chaos is an upcoming D&D release set in the Magic: The Gathering world of Strixhaven -- a brand new MtG set only just launched.

Strixhaven is a school of mages on the plane of Arcavios, an elite university with five rival colleges founded by dragons: Silverquill (eloquence), Prismari (elemental arts), Witherbloom (life and death), Lorehold (archaeomancy), and Quandrix (numeromancy). You can read more about the M:tG set here.

You will be able to tune into WotC's streamed event D&D Live on July 16 and 17 for details on both, including new character options, monsters, mechanics, story hooks, and more!

I mean if we're talking amazing animal races, I'm very tempted to pick up Pathfinder 2 simply because it has the Anadi. Who are lovely. I love them. I love those precious jumping spider people who learnt how to change into people to stop people freaking out about them.

One of their artwork is a spider with a backpack and a staff, and they're amazing and they deserve all of the hugs.

Although I think the Strixhaven cover is pretty good, compared to Witchlight, I'm hoping the alternate cover is announced on Friday and it knocks my socks off. Taking a cue from the alternate cover for Candlekeep, I'd love it to look like an old-fashioned text book or, alternately, a spellbook (preferably one less jewel-encrusted than the 3E core books, which were a lot).

I'm still waiting for an alternate art cover as good as Rising from the Last War's one

It's almost the last chance to make declarative statements about what will definitely be in each of these books before D&D Live gives us substantially more details.

Personally, I'm really interested in hearing what's going to be in the Witchlight accessory kit. Dice, yes, but what else? The price point is comparable to the Avernus kit, which had a map and cards. I'd like to hear if Gale Force 7 is going to be producing a screen.

I'm hoping to see the alternate cover for Strixhaven and at least some details about it.

And obviously, lots of info on Fizban's, which it sounds like we'll be getting a deep dive on early on.

The book, stop motion TV series, the Disney animated 'movie', the live action movie or some other animated adaptation??
The book. Mum read it to us when we were kids, she had this ancient old cloth-bound copy that must have belonged to my grandmother.

it also had Kenneth Graham’s ‘The Reluctant Dragon’ in it, which was I think my first ever dragon in print, even before Smaug…

There were a few details about the Witchlight accessory kit on Thursday's Dragon Talk episode. Something about it will involve butterfly wings (maybe the design of the box) and there will be two lined dice trays. The included dice are apparently nice and there's other stuff included.

Not exactly earth-shattering, but still, new information.

I crit!
Couple things;

  • Mister Witch and Mister Light I assume are the shadar-kai that traded with Isolde.
  • The Hourglass Coven firsts makes me think of hags (because coven) but the hourglass is an interesting choice in name.
  • Level 1-8 is a weird range... not as low as 1-5 like Waterdeep, but much even shorter than the typical 10+ of most adventure books.
  • Domain of Delight vs. Domain of Dread? I wonder if people are trapped in Prismeer as well, and what other Domains of Delight could exist.
How much of this has turned out true? I think you nailed this.
