A gnome has 25 ft move, kender 30 ft. I'd rather have a tinker gnome for grizzli-avoidance purpose.

A tinker gnome is likely to add some capability to the party, after enough downtime is spent experimenting, but you personally have to stay on the other side of camp just to be safe.

A kender is likely to have taken the item you want when you need it most.

Advantage: tinker gnome.
