D&D 5E If the DM forgets something about a boss, should the player remind him

The example I have is the DM forgot about the Vampire's legendary resistance and failed a save, severely gimping him for the rest of the combat.

As a player should I have reminded him about legendary resistance?

I think you're under no obligation to do so as a player, but at some tables it may be seen as good form to remind the DM of such things. At my table, it's appreciated, but we of course make fun of the player by saying, "Teacher, teacher - you forgot to give us homework!"

It goes to etiquette. As a DM I have a lot going on and could use the help. I have players helping in other ways like tracking initiative or looking up a spell. so to remind me of something makes the game better for all instead of a players vs DM game.

A few weeks ago a player pointed out that all the PCs lined up in a row for the bad guy to be able to move and lightning bolt everyone. So I did that and half the party went down and the fighter was struggling with a TPK, but the familiar was able to give someone a healing potion to even things off some. It made for a better game with some chance of death. I might not have seen it with the other 10 monsters on the board.

It depends. Would the DM remind the player of an ability they missed or forgot to use?

If so, then absolutely, the players should be good sports and remind them.

If not, then you are playing by rougher rules and it's every side for itself.

Not required.

As a DM most of the time, if I run the game poorly to the players' advantage, they don't owe me anything.
