D&D 5E $165 Priced Hardcover D&D 2022 Book(s?) Leaked on Amazon

I'm also hoping it's not Dragonlance. However, I'm not sure if I understand why you don't want it, as you seem to be a fan of the setting.
If you're a fan of a legacy setting, you may not be exactly excited to see a "new and improved" version of it.

They did say they just convinced their group to play the original boxed set. I can think of a few reasons someone might not want a new version of something to come out right after they started playing an old version of the same thing.

Speculation Specialist Wizard
A boxed set of sourcebooks seems like the reasonable path.

But why would the Speculation Specialist Wizard concern himself with being "reasonable!?"

I really do like the idea of this being the "new format" for campaign settings, but from my understanding, that new format wouldn't hit until the brand new settings dropped. It's possible my reading comprehension was off there. But I'm 100% down for a Dark Sun, Planescape, or Spelljammer Premium Campaign Setting Boxed Set of Greatness (TM).

Another idea: what if the new format was something akin to the Beadle and Grimm's sets, just not as premium!

I’d be happy to see new Dragonlance content, just not another remake of the original adventures. Especially when I’m just about to start the 1e version. I‘d rather run the War of the Lance without bottomless offensive cantrips and 5e long rests as they don’t really feel like a good match for the setting

Welp, it seems that a number of Australian sites, for whatever reason, have come out with the same name for the new product: "D&D Regular Rules Expansion Gift Set Hobby Store Exclusive".
Example.

That is horrible name. And how can it be exclusive to Hobby Stores when it's on Amazon?

Unless this is the Alt Cover version?

So now I'm left wondering if it's a set with TCoE, XGTE, MToF, and VGTM?

Or by rules expansion it's a bigger, up date, version of the Core Books. If this is just TCoE and simular books bundled, I'm canceling my Amazon order. That would be as exciting as dish water given I already have those books.

He / Him
To investigate this, I looked up what I could buy for exactly $165 through my local Craigslist. Here are some items:
  • An ergonomic keyboard
  • Versace Medusa teacups and saucers
  • Rear seats for a 2009 BMW M3
  • Men's Ugg Winter Boots
  • A baseball signed by Brandon Crawford
Well obviously WotC is planning one of these products:
  • A set of ergonomic dice for players with carpal tunnel
  • A Versace dice tower
  • An autonomous D&D vehicle (with Drizz't themed seats selling for $165)
  • D&D themed clothing, pulled from the PHB Equipment List. Now you can own a real Cold Weather Clothing Set!
  • A baseball signed by Elminster
So which one do you think it is???

Example 2.
Regular rules expansion suggests to me that it’s probably XgtE, TCoE, and maybe MtoF or VgtM. All four is also possible, but that price seems low for four books, especially with rumors of a coming price increase. I suppose revised and expanded core books is still a possibility as well, but that would be a terrible name for it if that’s what it is. I think we can rule out the idea of a setting.
