Bullies make fun of your "stupid interest" no matter what that interest happens to be.

Always remember, you can never get more stupid than a bunch of grown men chasing a pigs bladder round a muddy field.

What? How dare you make fun of overpaid jocks that usually have to declare bankruptcy after their short career* because they suffered long term physical damage including brain damage from repeated minor concussions! Just remember to root for your favorite team that's your favorite because they have, like, the same team name and usually a very similar outfit over the span of 5 years or so even though all the people actually playing the game have changed. Just be thankful your taxes subsidize the tax-free NFL while also funding stadiums.

That's not true! I dare to be more stupid!

I deeply care, not about being a grown man chasing a pig bladder around a field ... but about WATCHING them do it.

And .... I care deeply not based upon the people doing it so much as the laundry that they are wearing that day.

In addition, I truly believe that the things I do, such as the clothes I wear and the position I am sitting in, can affect the actions of these people playing miles away.

Everytime I've been to GenCon when there has been a Colts game - A MUCH larger % of the Colts crowd is decked out in full football fan regalia (many with face paint) than Gen Con attendees in costume.

Excuse me, but if you are implying I cannot continue to cheer for the Steelers for decades regardless of OC and player changes, I'm not sure what I can do.

Cheer for some soft West Coast team?!?

Never!

....yeah, Piers Anthony did not age well.

I don't think I could recommend any of his series today.

I reread the First 2 Xanth novels after reading an AVClub article expressing real disappointment with them. I remember really liking them a lot as a 12 year old.

35 years, later - WOW they had some truly problematic stuff in there! I would never recommend them to my 13 year old, and he likes sci-fi/fantasy.

Football fans, Music fans (Gwar), or GenCon Attendees?

So you cheer for them because you like the helmets? ;)

To many gamers, sports may seem silly. But my dad, who was a coach, would've greatly preferred if I'd been interested in sports like my older brother.
All the other interests we shared (history, rock music, chasing women) didn't really matter because I didn't like sports.
I'd say that many doors closed for me because I didn't like sports - relationships with my family, acceptance in school.
Funny thing is that I'm greatly more into sports now, when it doesn't matter if I like them or not.
