D&D 5E Fizban's - The First World (James Wyatt interview)

So, apparently Bahamut and Tiamat made the First World together (after making Sardior to be their assistant on the project), and all other worlds have echoes of it, which allows DMs to import setting materials from one world to another and explain them away as "echoes".

Wyatt is very keen on the whole shared multiverse thing. Which is fine, but really doesn't need to be canonical for every setting.

Technically it is not canonical to all settings. Only the DMG, PHB, and MM are canonical to all of 5e. At best it is canonical to this book and could possibly become part of the 50th anniversary books

It occurs to me that, with the lore of the gem dragon god being shattered across all these worlds (if I understand it correctly), they missed a trick by calling these cross-planar reflections of creatures and places "echoes" rather than "facets".

I will also note that within the first 30 seconds of the interview that Mt. Wyatt specifically notes that this is a myth of the origin of the Prime.

I'm glad that it's being treated similarly to the Creation Myth of Eberron with the Progenitor Dragons. That's the proper way to make a creation story for a setting, IMO. Have it be a myth, so the DM and players can more easily do whatever they want to do with it.

Specifically, this is one of the Dragon’s creation myths. We have been shown throughout the many editions different creations myths believed by the various races through the various Material Planes.

There have been many tales about how a specific god or pantheon was responsible for the creation of the world/universe and its many wonders and how their particular racial creation was the pinnacle or the first pure act of creation. Then something came and corrupted or destroyed this perfect world whether it be other jealous gods who wanted to create something that was superior or outside forces that came and corrupted things, etc.

This is just one belief for dragons that can be used or ignored at your discretion.
