D&D General Critical Role Video game in the works.

Excited to see what type of game they go towards with this. RPG would make the most sense, but then people would likely expect something 5e-related. WotC seems eager to roll with CR, I wonder if that would include letting them adapt their system for a video game without much fuss?

I imagine the way Critical Role is growing today is similar to how things were when the Forgotten Realms was first growing into D&D's most popular setting and getting tie-in books and games and such (I wouldn't know for certain; I was born in 1988). The difference here being that it got its start as a franchise in streaming/podcasting (which, come to think of it, makes it kind of like Record of Lodoss War, too).
I would definitely be curious when it comes to the point that Exandria surpasses Forgotten Realms in popularity, if it hasn't already. That's a pretty big setting IP that wasn't internally developed or owned by WotC. WotC is obviously trying to cash-in on this and the two are collaborating, but it's difficult to imagine how long-term that can last.

We already have a thread on this. :)

I do enjoy much of their roleplaying and many of the animatics on YouTube, but I'm less than fond of the moral inversion of the political entities in the world Matt Mercer created. It's a thoroughly detailed labor of love, but he's taken it in a direction that disappoints me. I'll have to wait and see some reviews before I consider buying this one--no pre-order from me.

I don't want to get too off topic but could you explain what you mean by moral inversion of political entities? Especially inversion to what?

The feature film being "bandied about" is something I missed in the other thread. But that's nothing except them talking about it.

I honestly can't really think of a political entity in their campaign that fits that mold. But then again it was a very long campaign so there may be details that I don't recall? Are you referring to something that was in one of their campaign setting books?
