It is cool seeing them branch out but what could a B&G Magic the Gathering box from them be like? More to be announced at PAX Unplugged, I think.

Kamigawa was a Japanese-themed MtG block from quite a few years ago. I'm somewhat surprised to see it make a comeback, seeing as it wasn't selling too well at the time.

"Neon dynasty" sounds like it's trying a new angle on things.

B&G to tell us more next week but the part that got me excited is

Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty is Magic: The Gathering's return to the Kamigawa plane, a setting heavily inspired by Japanese culture. While past sets focused on the Kami War, a conflict between the kami and mortals, the new set jumps forward 1,200 years and reestablishes Kamigawa under a cyberpunk lens.

Yeah, back in around 2003 WotC released a trio of Magic sets:

Champions of Kamigawa
Betrayers of Kamigawa
Saviors of Kamigawa

It was a world inspired by samurai tales and Shinto mythology, with kami and kirin and kappa and more. The sets had great flavor, but the mechanics weren't the best and the power level wasn't particularly competitive.

Also, a thing your average player wouldn't have known, but the Kamigawa sets occurred a thousand years before the current time period of the rest of the sets. So the speculation is that Neon Dynasty is the current version of the world, with a thousand years of technology development.

It's basically going to be Magic The Gathering: Cyberpunk Edition.

I mean, I wouldn't be opposed to Kamigawa being another cross-over book. looks at everybody booing at him and wondering why as if he said something wrong. Ducks tomato.
