Some particularly nice art in there.

Were there actually mindflayers?
No, there's no mention of illithid, beholders, or other such OGL-unfriendly creatures in the setting.

Hey! Loved this.... any chance you could email me at influencer @ lynnvander.com?? Would love to talk more, plus this was incredibly focusing on the scatter that is my world.
Happy to hear that, and email sent.

Hmm, they seem to be running another Kickstarter for the setting right now.

I was thinking of backing this but had no idea of the history. I’m not real keen on giving money to Lynnvander if they’re a mob who are running a second Kickstarter for what appears to be basically the same product after failing to deliver their commitments first time round. Is that an accurate summary of the situation? I’m coming in very late to this saga, just want to make sure I’m understanding things correctly.

Just looking at this one, I am unsure of what new content they're delivering that merits a second crowdfund.

As for what's been delivered to backers...

The 5e PDF is the most recent version, meaning that a lot of stuff from the 2nd version is missing. The prior versions of Legacy of Mana were in Dropbox links which have since expired.

There was a tie-in digital novel, Hope's Ordeal, also promised to backers on all tiers. That product is being sold Amazon but hasn't been given to backers. I asked for a copy several times but haven't been given a copy or a coupon for it. This is a pretty accurate summary of the overall communication problems with Norse Foundry and Lynnvander; me and other backers asking or inquiring about something and not receiving an answer. Or the answer came weeks or months later. The common explanation given being that the project manager/author was in Estonia at the time. As Estonia is a country with access to the Internet and no widespread censorship that I'm aware of, that's not really an excuse. Addiitonally, having two companies involved with the project not being entirely aware of what the other was doing also hurt things.

The higher tier choices for physical books and adventures do not exist. I cannot comment on custom dice sets because I never backed for those and that tier's backers are very few.

For all I know the creators of Legacy of Mana have since learned from their failures, but after all that's happened I'm not going to back this one. I'll wait for the project to be released and see what others say about it first.

For what it's worth, I asked about the previous kickstarter. The author responded, didn'[t really address my specific questions but linked to an hour-long podcast where he was interviewed about the project. I skimmed it and didn't hear him talk about the previous kickstarter at all.

It sounds like creative work is basically complete on the new version, and printing will be done locally so less risk of getting caught up in supply chain hell. But I still think that re-kickstarting something you've already kickstarted while making no effort to fulfil the outstanding committments of your first kickstarter is pretty slimy behaviour, so I won't be backing this one.

I saw the post and listened to the podcast as well; it didn't go into details on the previous KickStarter and talked almost entirely about the setting instead.
