TSR3 missed deadlines, delays in Dungeon Crawl

In a move that I suspect surprises no one, LaNasa announced that their promised ship date of 12/20 for all the Dungeon Crawl board game preorders (they recently bought the rights of Dungeon Crawl from Wizard Tower Games (Doug)) is delayed.

So still no actual product from them.

They said it's because they are replacing cover art with Larry Elmores art. If the reason for the delay matters to you.

If you haven't seen this message, you must be lucky because they are spamming every group that remotely is connected to old TSR, including a group dedicated to the late Jim Holloway's art.

I mean, what else is there to say. I cannot keep all of them straight and I do not plan to buy from them. Is anyone waiting for this?

Pastimg same response here. here’s the thing. Unlike this new TSR3, I’ve actually produced and shipped games. So something stands out to me.

They took money from people for preorders up until very recently with a promised ship date of 12/20. They are announcing they are delaying because they are making changes.

It takes a significant amount of time to make changes, approve files, manufacture those pieces, and collate to ship. Therefore, there is no way these guys had a product ready to ship by 12/20 when they started taking orders on 12/7. They promised a ship date without having even placed manufacturing orders, so I don’t see how they gave a ship date by 12/20 in the first place.

It all smells really fishy.

Hey you! Yea that was me on Facebook.

Like I said there they better not screw over Larry Elmore. I would have hoped that someone would have warned him about them.

Just know that they must have paid a huge sum.

I see one of two scenarios here.

1. they took money knowing full well they could never meet a ship date they promised to customers.

2. they have no clue as to how a manufacturing process actually works, or the time windows needed.

Both are plausible, sadly.

Elmore did the cover for Giantlands, so he knows who these guys are. Larry has always been super nice to me, so who knows if he really keeps up to date or just treats it like a commission. No idea. But he must at the very least have an idea about who they are.

I really don't understand anyone who can look at everything TSR3 has been up to this year and still say "yes, this is a good use of my money." The best I can say about them is that they have a truly astonishing amount of blind faith.

We've all seen TSR3's track record, we've all read their correspondence, we all have a pretty good idea of what they can offer. And if none of that warns you off, nothing will.
